Shiny happy person

A bright and sunny day calls for a shiny new frock, don't you think?

Well, obviously I mean new to me.

You can't tell on the photos, but this early 1960s dress has a gorgeous sheen to the fabric, it's very pretty.

So pretty in fact that I felt obliged to change out of my boots into some T-bars and stick a feathered headband on. It worked for me!

I found this tooled leather bag on Ebay for £2.20, the seller said it was her grandmother's so I'm guessing Granny brought it home as a souvenir from Egypt or Morrocco in the 1970s.

This 1980s St. Michael navy polka dot pencil skirt was £2 from one of my favourite stall holders on Chesterfield flea market.

I was drawn to this book of piano music (75p) by the lovely illustration ....

... and I thought I might get it framed, but on reflection I'm going to work on the piano pieces and then force the kids to sing carols round the piano at Christmas. It will take me till Christmas to master the playing, but it will be worth it to piss the kids off. (Just so we are clear - I'm joking. I'll be able to play the music by summer really, hahaha!)

Tricel 1960s dress (vintage/collectables shop, £8), feather headband (charity shop, 50p), wedge-heeled T-bars (charity shop, £3.99), various beads, rings and bangles (had for ages, bought in charity shops or gifts), plus denim jacket which will be worn repeatedly as the weather gets warmer (£4.99, charity shop) and Clarks ankle boots (community fair, £2)

Hope you have all had a good day, lovelies!
                                                                                xxxxxx

I love tricel so much that I can't comment on much else - other than how genius you are to find tights exactly the same shade as the flowers on t'frock! Anyhow, the frock is marvellous and works t'rifically with the denim jacket .... am now going off to lament getting rid of all the tricel I had in the 80s :( xx

That dress is gorgeous on you, it reminds me of the advert for Dolce & Gabanna with that Italian family on the beach.
I love that M&S skirt, I bet that'll look amazing on, can't wait to see an outfit post.
I can just picture you playing the piano with the kids singing around it...not! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The T-bars and headband are exactly right with that fabulous dress with the special shine. I would like to see you swing your bag wildly as you skip down the street - love that bag.

Love the dress! Such great colours, especially with those tights and shoes! In my house it was me learning to play carols and forcing my mum to listen to them over and over again. I'm especially jealous of that skirt! xxxx

What a fantastic cut, and I do see the sheen, it makes all the difference. I think you'll get loads of mileage from this number as it could look very summery too.
That skirt is very similar to an St Michaels number I picked up recently, I've lived in it.

Great colours in that dress, and it looks very cool with the t-bars and the headpiece. A sunny day definitely deserves a shiny dress!

You look sensational in your 60's dress and the white T-bars are perfect. Lovely bag too, my Nan bought a similar one in Madeira in the 70's which I have, altho the handle is broken.

the fabric in the dress is amazing. Good luck forcing the kids to play piano. I was "forced" to take lessons for over ten years...and can't play very much today. Do you by chance sell on eBay?
