Here comes the quiet life again

It's been a quiet sort of weekend, but I don't mind that.

And here's a fairly quiet, uneventful sort of outfit to match.

I rather like being dwarfed by the towering trees and the ivy covering the wall at the end of our garden.

It serves to remind me of my allotted place in the universe.

The few remaining bursts of colour amongst all the green in the garden reflect the hint of deep pink in my dress.

So there I was, minding my own business, taking my photos in the garden, when the girls came charging out. To plant an apple pip, apparently, and to mock me for taking "selfies" (ugh, I hate that term...)

...so I was reduced to this as a response, which was quickly followed by...

...this debacle.

Maturity is overrated, isn't it?

The felines were unimpressed.

The Garden Goddess didn't crack a smile either.

1970s Lerose almost-maxi dress - Ebay
Cardigan, shoes, earrings and bangles - charity shopped
Hair flower - retail (sale)
1960-70s necklace - gift from lovely Leisa

We walked to a cafe for brunch on Saturday, taking in a playground on the way.

This particular little park used to be awful, with vandalised equipment in an uninviting space.

Under a blue sky, in the shadow of the mosque...

...there was swinging and twirling and jumping and squealing.

The kids loved the revamped playground.

Just shows what can be done. No such thing as a lost cause.

It seems I'm all about my inner child this weekend.

To those of you dealing with changes in your lives - whether they are welcomed, frightening, exciting, or sad - I wish you good luck.

Let's see what this week has in store!

Tee hee - great selfies. One should never take selfies too seriously I think! Your outfits are never uneventful! I lvoe the pattern on the dress.

Lovely whirling-like-a-dervish Curtise, superb snaps. Nothing immature about making faces at the camera, my dad does it at every opportunity and he's 74.
The garden's looking lush and as ever, so are you.

I love how I never, ever, know what to expect when I stop by The Secondhand Years. At times thoughtful, playful, mature {or not}, raunchy...but always you. Love your twirling.

Awesome twirl action, Curtise! And the pulling faces photo will surely feature in Littlest's Rock Star Biography some day.
I like your outfit in the garden, like a heroine in a novel, but I'm missing the bouquet of posies. Cool shoes. I'd like to come over for tea now.

Beautiful shoes! I do love an ankle strap.
Good to see your inner child can keep up with the offspring. Funny pics.
Have a lovely week Curtise! xxxx

Amen to being in touch with our inner child! Hurrah for immaturity! Looks like a fun weekend was had. I love hitting the playgrounds with my kids - as long as there is no risk my bottom will get stuck in the slide. Love your frock, and its hint of green as I am all about the green lately.
(And I love the pics with you and your girls!) XXX

Love the family "selfies" such a pretty frock on you. I think quiet weekend should be a common occurrence in everyone's life!

You might call this an uneventful outfit but I say it's stupendous. I love cardigans and you do them so well. And your shoes? ADORBS. There is definitely an art to pulling faces and you girls are truly gifted! Have a lovely week.

As usual a lovely post with a tour of you garden and neighborhood. Aren't kids wonderful for breaking into one's solitude like little pins bursting a soap bubble. Adorable faces.

Maturity is TOTALLY over rated!!!
I do love a good bit of face pulling. Makes me giggle inanely, as does a lot of immature things.
Love this frock, it's just scrumptious!!! Uneventful?! PAH! That necklace is rather divoon.
I think the pookies are quite intrigues by our carrying on, generally. They may look disdainful, but 5 minutes later I bet they were galloping about with rockets up their arses!
Love YOU! XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

maturity in indeed so over-rated. I love seeing your inner child, I'd like to see more of everyone's : > Lovely dress and kitties too - don't worry, they are extremely difficult to impress. Unless you have a snake! xoxo

Oh, Curtise, was just about to say that I hope you did some twirling and jumping and squealing! Maturity is way overrated at times!

Your outfits are never uneventful, even though your weekend was quiet. It looks to me like there is never a dull moment in your life, with your fun loving daughters, the cats and even the Garden Goddess.

Have a great week Curtise, exploring your beautiful inner child.

Such a pretty print on the dress, and you and your lovely daughters do have the most beautiful of countenances! You'll have no problem marrying off those two. And your lovely but gratuitous pussy photos! Ahhhhhhhh.

As always you are a breath of fresh air and fun. Just what I need at the end of a fraught working day.

You have such a way with words my dear friend. I always feel like we are sitting across the table chatting when I read your posts. I love todays maxi and your garden green and those beautiful kitty cats, my my! The selfies, a term I also don't like much and laugh at often because I am guilty of many too.

Love you and the kids playing around, it feels good to not give a shit and play! I would have a blast at that park with your munchkins. The picture of littlest by herself is beautiful, can you please tell her I adore that pretty blouse she's wearing and the red shoes.

Change is in the air for sure. It's the weather, it's our age, it's inevitable, I sure feel less alone with strong wise real women sharing their stories and wisdom with me. You are right Curtise it is about the exchange we share here. I love you girl!

*Hehehe* The pic of you making that face made me chuckle. Then when I seen you and the girls all pulling faces it was even funnier. The park looks fun.
You look quite pretty, even if your making funny faces!

Needed to see this, today!
Thanks, Curtise.

How fun are your family "silly" pics
I am not sure if your dress is lavender or blue, but on my computer it is a beautiful shade of lavender that I rarely ever see in clothing
So pretty

Tee hee! You looked like you had fun! Playing is good. I like the idea of you posing in the garden, minding your own business when the girls came rushing out. Funny. What charming family photos for the album :) My fave is the middle one where littlest is cross-eyed with her tongue out. Absolute classic.

Now then, before I forget, don't think I haven't noticed the red lipposticko! I don't think I've ever seen you wearing that colour. Like. No. Forget that. Love! And there's nowt wrong with that outfit ducky. Nowt.

Keep twirling! xxxxx

That photo bombing is glorious! I loathe the word "Selfie" along with cupcake, tregging, jegging, on-trend, brekkie, sarnie and onsie...the drugs are obviously wearing off and I'm back to my usual cantankerous self.
How gorgeous are those moggies? And you and your skirt! And is that lipstick new? You look even more fabulous than ever.
Change is definitely afoot, the nights are drawing in, the weather's getting colder and there's adventures in the offing - 11 days and counting!
Love you! xxxx

Heehee those are the best selfies ever! Looks like your inner child is having a lot of fun!
The cats are divine too, but clearly too grown up for selfie grimaces...
