Fashionably late

It all started so well.

At the train station in good time, taking photos, looking forward to a fabulous day.

Best laid plans, and all that...

A long delay, followed by an unscheduled change of trains, and I became a seething mass of resentment and disappointment.

I should be there by now!

Oh well, railing against events you can't do anything about is pretty pointless. Though I really don't like to be late. Especially not a whopping 2 hours late.

Not when there are gorgeous blog buddies waiting for me!

Thankfully, a restorative pint (ta, Vix, I owe you a drink!) and lunch was waiting for me in Wetherspoons, along with three of the most delightful, funny, chatty and friendly people ever!

Here are Vix, Clare and Tania hard at work investigating the vintage loveliness on offer in the legendary Second to None.

Going for a cup of tea at Vix and Jon's house felt like visiting the set of a favourite TV show or film - everything seemed so familiar, even though I hadn't been there before. It's not a set though, there's nothing fake about it; it's a real home full of all Vix's trademark style, skill and warmth.

I had the most delightful day. I love you gals!

Gifts were exchanged, and purchases were made, of course.

From Tania - Freckleface cards and mug, featuring her beautiful illustrations; a book I started reading and enjoying on the train home; bling a-plenty (brooch, earrings and bangles), and a fabulous diamond knit beret.

From Vix - wonderful 1970s dressmaking patterns; lurex fishnet tights (is there a better combination than lurex and fishnet?), bastard massive Cancerian pendant and a heart ring; and a 1970s Kati at Laura Phillips bolero top.

And from Clare - officially the Best Mix CD Ever (it includes The Stripper, how excellent is that?); and a handmade groovy girl brooch.

I spent more than I meant to at Second to None, but seriously - could you have resisted?

A green theme...
a beautiful 1950s brocade jacket and groovy 1960-70s suede jerkin. Yes, another one...

Amazing 1960s graphic print dress, 1970s denim wedge sandals (I had a very similar pair back in the day), and a floaty dream of a 1970s Sylvan maxi dress.

It needs taking in a little on the bust, but I couldn't wait to prance around the garden in it!

Can I encourage all of you to take any opportunity that comes your way to meet up with blog friends?

They don't disappoint, and they offer genuine friendship.

And after seeing Vix, Clare and Tania in their scanties in Second to None, we really are Panty Hos!

  xxxx

God, that dress is amazing on you, I'm so glad you bought it. The hat makes it hippy-tastic! Wait till you show off the other beauties, you looked amazing in everything but you are "the body".
How rude of the trains to keep you from us but a short time is better than nothing!
Didn't we have a ball? The time just flew by.
Counting the days to the next one, Panty-ho!
Love you! xxxxxxx

Absolutely love it all, especially the jerkin, 50's jacket and the groovy 60's dress and you look so Margot Leadbetter in your floaty frock. Looks like you had such fun with the girls, it did seem funny tho' seeing you in Vix' front room.

You did so well! Everything you got was stunning. I couldn't believe how amazing the green jacket and green jerkin looked and they're such a great price. June is such a darling to put up with us. I'm really pleased you got those wedges! Love them! It was so lovely to see you again. And I hope you're dancing round the kitchen to the CD!

Better late than never was never more true! I don't wish to gloat but Didn't We Have A Loverly Time The Day We Went To Walsall?

I'm so glad you bought that floaty dress, I thought you had put it back, but it really is a beauty and looks so fabulous on you. Ah, how satisfying!

Lovely, lovely, lovely! xxxx

I've been waiting for your account as I wanted to see more of that print mini. But, I have to say that I also got excited by the denim wedges. What an amazing find. I have that Young Contemporary Fashion that you got from Vix (we should challenge each other to make that blouse and see how they come out) and love skirts in shape of the other pattern. I'll have to search that pattern out. All the other gifties are wonderful too. Looks like green was the theme for the day (except for Vix, but she's such a rebel anyway). So sorry about the train delay, but it looks like your day was a grand success and tons of fun anyway.
I can't tell you the number of times that people make typos and type 'Ho' instead of my name 'Jo."

arrrgh to the train delays, but wheeee! to the blogger meet. I saw you in that 60's dress over at Vix's and you are smashing!

I'm sorry for your misadventure, but is better later than never! The event makes me very excited and I was waiting forward for your post! I hope that Vix and Clare gave you a big hug from me! I loved your bargains and I wish to visit Second to none soon, hopefully with you and the rest of the panty ho brigade aka the fab four! Your new dress is stunning and you look like a floaty butterfly!
Love xxxxxxxx

Flipping trains, still better late than never, eh? (I was over an hour late when I met Vix, but that was my own fault!). Wonderful gifts and buys, especially the denim wedges. You look fab in the floaty number!
P.S. Thanks for your message, I did reply, but it may have gone to your spam

FUN! And jealous!! (bastard trains)

I am currently missing a blogger conference in christchurch.. I was going to go but we have stuff on and also it felt a bit too contrived maybe.. dunno.. I might regret it. I think cups of tea and op shopping is pretty much my idea of a meet up!
x Love that floaty number!

You are the Green Machine in brocade and suede! Loved reading all of the accounts of this magical meet up, and wished like hell I could have been part of it. I'd be very afraid of how much stuff I would find in Second to None that I would want to bring home.

Have a lovely weekend - I am hopefully meeting up with a fellow blogger tomorrow in Toronto.

Such a shame about all the delays Curtise, but you put the time to good use taking some fab photos. I recognise those steps! They're just outside Sheffield train station aren't they? I saw you wearing the green jacket on Clare's post and you looked so chic in it, and I love that floaty maxi on you. It looks like you all had a really great day. xx
