All that chazz

Having rather lost my chazzing mojo of late, it was lovely to go out last week and have some success in the charity shops.

This 1980s dress is another shoulder-padded beauty.

I like them, they make me feel all Joan Crawford, statuesque and powerful.

Although Joan would have insisted a terrified minion re-ironed that pesky wrinkled rayon before her photo shoot...

I love the sweetheart neckline and the stand-up collar.

I think that whisk of the tail means Jess approves.

I also bought...

a 1970s style dress, £2.50...

...and three skirts.

Black steam punk-y bustle-effect skirt (I am thinking ahead to Halloween and wearing this with my corset), £3.99

Mango cotton velvet wrap skirt, £4

1970s paisley pencil skirt, £2

(I also bought jeans for Seldom Seen, school trousers and a waistcoat for Eldest, and an otter hand puppet for Littlest, just so you don't think it's always all about me!)

1980s Joni Blair dress, £4
Boots - Ebay
Necklace and bangles - charity shops
Tights - retail
Sunglasses - vintage shop

I think we are about coming to the end of the colour in the garden.

But I'm putting my (padded) shoulders back, wearing bright tights and prints, and making the most of the autumn sunshine!

Hope you have all enjoyed the weekend.

well don't you look smashing! Autumnal but in the best way-love those beautiful colours and that dress is simply gorgeous! I love the neckline and the collar too! It's nice when you find some chazzer bargains after a hiatus-I didn't find anything for weeks and then scored a pair of french connection wool trousers and an angora jumper with change from a tenner. Fab!
Much love Amie

bloody gorgeous - the collar and neckline on that dress are gorgeous. All those skirts are wonderful too - especially the psychedellic paisley one! Love the burnt orange tights. Such a great outfit and I'm glad you've got your mojo back. Jess is gorgeous! xxxx

LOve the dress. I had the same black skirt which I sold it on Ebay when I got too fat for it and still have a larger size in navy blue.

You look excellent in that dress! The pairing with the orange tights is just right. And I have boots that look suspiciously like yours, which I love. What is it about shoulder pads? I seem to be coming around to them again too. Great thrifting scores. I can't wait to see the black skirt with your corset!

Fabulous finds Curtise. The dress fits you perfectly and the neckline is lovely. The jaffa tights are just so right for this time of year, ....wonder where you found them? Can't wait to see you model your Halloween and Paisley skirts. Fantastic floral photo's btw.

Such a fab dress on you, I'm a bit of a sucker for a princess neckline too. So pretty, the tights you are wearing work perfectly too. Thanks for asking about my health, I have mostly recovered, although still quite tired at the end of the day. Hopefully I wil be 100% soon.

I adore the 80s, and padded shoulders compensate my hips so I always wear and love them.
You look fabulous, Curtise.

What a haul! Good work. I particularly like how the orange tights pick out the pattern in the dress.

Also, I had never heard of it being called chazzing, what an uncultured life I have lead. No I know, I will use this MUCH superior word!

Another amazing dress, such lovely colours! It makes me sad to see the bright colours outside go, autumn can be pretty dull sometimes (especially in Cov it's always grey here!) x

She shops, she scores!!! How fabulous! I absolutely love that first frock on you in particular, you look absolutely gorgeous and you've made me realise that I need orange tights in my life!
That witchy skirt is going to look fabulous with your corset, you must show us when you're all frocked up! That pencil skirt is a stunner.
You managed to buy stuff for the young 'uns? Impressed! I'd have taken my swag off to the pub to celebrate!
LOVE & Fabulousness! xxxxxxxxxx

Great finds, Curtise. You are of course rocking those shoulder pads. I went to a jumble sale yesterday and bought such a load of rubbish. My daughter virtually dragged me out - she was so horrified by my hideous haul. Xx

I have a frock that has that same sort of neckline, it's so flattering and feels really nice to wear doesn't it? My favourite is your paisley skirt, it's lovely. x

You look farking fantasmo in that frock! 80's tastic! I'm finding myself drawn sympathetically to 80's frocks more and more lately...I'm a little nervous, but I may as well embrace it!I'd love to find one like this, the neckline, print and shape are divine! Great scores all up,darl!Sometimes it does seem like the chazza mojo deserts us, but you just gotta keep on at it, cos it always comes back!

You know those 80's frocks really suit you! The cut of that one is so flattering. Love it with the orange tights. Some weeks I seem to loose my op shop groove, but like Helga said, it always comes back again. I just don't understand why I seem to find so much stuff when I tell myself I shouldn't spend the money or bring any more crap home. I just can't resist temptation! Great finds too. Xx

How do you manage to find the few great styles that the 80s produced? This dress is so flattering on you and you've managed to make a sweetheart neckline look bad-ass indeed. Love the flower collage with the most stunning one in the upper right. Looks like your mojo is back.

I'm jumping to the end of the comments, so I don't know what anyone else has said, BUT...!!! I feel like this post is a transition. I see you looking strong and gorgeous in your shoulder-padded dresses.

You look like you're discovering your own style and fashion- voice etc. I'm blown away by your attitude in this look. I'd love to know how you feel. I just know I'm madly in love with this post.

Thank you Curtise for existing!!
Life would be boring and colourless without you!!
I adore the 'chazzing mojo' definition, it's on my dictionary now, last time I went to the charity shop I lost it too, so I hope to visit it soon and that you'll bring me luck! The new dress is beautiful, the neckline and the lenght look amazing on you and the other dress and the skirts are fabulous too, can't wait to see you wearing them like an iconic noniron diva!
Love xxxxxx

YOU are the best colour in your garden! I've acquired a few things with shoulder pads lately and have been pleased with the Joan Crawford silhouette they create. This dress has a lovely shape on you, from the great sweetheart neckline to the nipped in waist that shows off your fab curves. Great autumn colours too, especially with the orange tights. I am seriously coveting the black bustle-y skirt!! Thanks for the flattering arse comments on my blog ;)

Well it certainly doesn't matter when all the colour fades from the garden as you can simply stand there if that lovely dress and add all the colour needed. It looks really nice on you and the colours are reminiscent of autumn xx

You look so gorgeous in that dress! I am glad you were able to enjoy some shopping. I got to do that on Saturday but didn't find all too much. "Oh but I just remembered I found some bathroom fish with mermaids riding on them and have forgotten all about them until now." *YAY* hahah

You are SMOKIN'. Wow. Actually, I've always thought you looked statuesque and powerful, and even more so recently.

Orange tights, oh how I adore thee.

I confess I can never convert British money quickly, but looks like you did good, real good!

I want those orange tights...fantastic! So glad to see that you are feeling better and back to yourself. The neckline on this dress is completely flattering on you. Love your finds, all three skirts are great finds. I think I want to start referring to thrifting as charity shopping...it sounds so much better. Charity, Charity...off to the Charity shop. dawn suitcase vignettes xo

I love this dress on you - the neckline is the best I've ever seen on you! The rest is great too, you have such a fantastic figure! This cut and the strong colours makes it very flattering, and with your sunglasses on, one could easily mistake you for a film star!

Love the black skirt so much! What a great find. Orange tights make that dress ultra special as do the pockets.
