Honolulu Nights, Purple Days

I took my new-to-me 1960s Hawaiian maxi out for a whirl last Saturday evening.

Show-stopping colours, aren't they?

I went round to Tracey's for dinner with three other friends - Thai green curry, delicious!

And I made a start on the Task of the Summer, a house tidy up/clear out, by donating a lot of clothes which I never wear to Trace for her work wardrobe - she's got a new job!

1960s maxi dress (vintage fair), bangles and hair flower (charity shopped), Fly wedge sandals (retail, several years ago)

So that was sunny Saturday; this is today.

Yep, back in tights and boots...

... and umbrella.

Inspirational colours.

1970s dress (Ebay), tights, cardigan, beads, bracelets (charity shopped), boots (Second to None)

Jess found an alternative use for an umbrella - keeping one's fluffy bum off the wet grass.

Where did the sun go? I want summer back now please!

Oooo, love all the florals! The inspiration is lovely. I know I miss the sun when it is gone! Light greatly affects my mood. It will be back soon.

Ooh love that Hawaiian number, I have a ton of those I started buying when I got into island music on my uke...and don't they just cheer you up when you put one on, thanks for the post!

Inspirational colors for sure! I love the whole outfit with the tights and boots. Looks like you're getting a ton of use from those burgundy boots too. Nice score!

Gorgeous dresses! I love the colour scheme of both of them, and they're both generally fab! I am giggling a little at your kitty's use of the umbrella - they really will find any way to keep their bums from getting wet, won't they?

I also really love the color scheme of the 1970s floral dress. It looks perfect with those boots and that cardi.

The maxi is beautiful....what a gorgeous combination of colours! I must say your arms look SUPER toned too (unlike my white bingo wings!) As usual I am really drawn to the style of the second outfit. I love the fit of that frock on you, teamed with boots, tights & cardi. I would happily wear that all year round! Xx

Two seasons in a few days is a challenge and I would love a bit of rain with all the dryness around me.The long hawaian dress is so much in fashion this summer.By the way you have such a nice garden.

I love the maxi - such lovely colours! I do like the raining day outfit too - but sad to see you have another rainy day in summer. I do love those beautiful colours in your garden, the flowers are incredible.

Well, one benefit of the return of the rain is the lush garden you have...and the inspiration to wear these lovely purples and fuchsia! I love that first dress!

Our own lawn has basically died this summer from lack of rain.

awww I love your gorgeous cats! Jess obviously knows she's beautiful. So are you in your purple dream! Fantastic colours in the garden too. I love today's outfit too, love the soft tights and the dress pattern. Why does it have to be tights weather in Sheffield? Sending some Chilterns heat your way (beware it's warm but also very clammy).
Ps - not seen your niece at the manor, I didn't go as I'm still ill with bladder badness xxx

Poo to more rain, but yay to giving it a right ole kick up the date with more glorious colour - your lovely frock looks like a painting and how I love to perve over you frolicking in your beautiful garden with added pussies:)) xoxoxoxo

Love the second dress - gorgeous clours. Bored with the weather. It's grey and rainy today too but I'm refusing to wear tights and boots. Sandals and pale legs all the way for me! Oooh, I'd love a Thai green curry right now, will have to make do with tuna mayo sarnies instead. xx

I just love that Hawaiian maxi in all it's glorious pinkness and even if the weather's turned a bit shitty at least those fabulous boots get another outing!! Mmmm, I'd kill for a spicy Thai curry right now.
Lucky old Trace getting a wardrobe for free, that guarantees good karma and lots of Seventies finds for you.
Our cats are refusing the leave the house in the rain, spoilt fur babies! xxxxxxx

Such cute kitties. They're not dumb, they know how to keep their bums dry.

The maxi dress is stunning - so bright! I'm sorry you're back in tights and boots. Seems summer in England has been pretty miserable. Hopefully August will be better.

As much as I hate our hideously hot Summers, I don't think I could cope with "your" version either. Bit depressing after a while...
You, however look anything but depressing Curtise, in fact you look gorgeous in both outfits. You must be a Summer and a Winter person (in colour talk) x

That hawaiian dress is FABULOUS!! I love the bright print and you are rocking it!!
Love the second outfit--altho I can't imagine wearing boots and tights in summer (it's horrid hot here)
your cats are stunning and certainly not stupid!!

Your Hawaiian dress is fantastic! It works really well with your hair colour. Isn't Thai food just the best? I can never have enough of it!

The today outfit is so beautiful! I guess these are your favorite colours since you have them in your garden too? In my mind this post will always be "purple rain"!

I'm insanely jealous that you can wear tights. I bet we can't here until November :(

That maxi is smashing; you have the best maxi collection of anyone I see style blogging.

So glad the cat was spared the touch of wet grass :o

Hugs to you, too. Thanks for the nice words about my daughter yesterday. I know I'm not the only one with sick family members; I keep looking for ways not to get tied up in knots myself when her disease flares because I know we both have to live with it, her more so than me as she makes her way in the world.

From floral maxi to boots in one day! You managed the transition with aplomb with that beautiful lush background no matter rain or shine.

You know I'm going to love that floral maxi! But the short dress is gorgeous too. It's good that you are getting such a lot of wear out of the fab boots, but it would be better if it wasn't in the middle of Summer!

Oh well, your garden looks spectacular, and Jess looks very happy, so it's not all bad. (And you can always do what I'm doing right now and pass the rainy spells in studying Wiggo's 'form'!!!!)

Curtise, you make me want to don my hawaiian dress that I thrifted from savers in Hawaii last year. When I go to new places for holiday, I look forward to thrifting more than the vacation itself. I love the dress and its vibrant colors. The cats are adorable, love their little faces. I may have asked you this before but where in England do you live? I have been to Manchester and London..long story. I will have to email that story. dawn suitcase vignettes xo

Okay, I'm just going to ignore the rain and the boots and all that (even though you look fantastic) and focus on that Hawaiian number...Wow!! I adore it! It reminds me of mine and I feel like a queen when I wear it. You are looking very goddess here, the perfect wear for Thai mind-travel over curry.
