In the whisper of the trees, in the thunder of the seas

I was out last night at the evening part of an old friend and work colleague's wedding reception.

Lovely to be invited.

Perfect excuse to frock up!

Every time I have worn this fabulous 1970s maxi, which was a gift from darling Helga (last seen here), I feel glamorous and special.

And I get complimented.

Which is always a good thing!

It's a magic dress.

Look, it makes me go all soft focus and romantic and winsome...

Must be the sight of people finding love in spite of previous heartache and disappointment.

Congratulations David and Sharon!

That's Robert, Dave and I with our pints lined up in front of us.

I may look like a lady, but I drink like a navvy!

Yeah, I might have been a bit pissed. It was a wedding!

And unlike Rob, I didn't have work the next morning, ha!

Oh I can be a hard-faced old cynic, without a shred of romance in me, but a good wedding and a few pints blurs my sharp edges...

...until I'm willing to believe love really is in the air!

That is a magical dress - the neckline and sleeves are just perfect. Lovely colours on you as well. I'm glad you had a super time at the wedding:D

That dress is indeed magical, those angel sleeves are so pretty on you and it shimmers like silk! Helga was spot on with her choice!
I avoid weddings like the plague, it's been years since I last ran out of excuses and had to go to one (and that was in India so pretty much bearable) but the bride does look lovely and that is one sexy frock.
Hope the hangover wasn't too painful! xxxxxxx

Oh, the adore you as winsome. All fluggy, flurry, slurg romancy slobbery. The world needs much more of this - and you are just the person to give it to us!!! I suspect that apart from the bride herself, you were the most fetching woman in the room in that stunning frock worn with a wide-eyed sweepingly romantic outlook, perhaps some would say pie-eyed. Trust the almighty Helga to send you this gift of love potion.

Another beautiful maxi - you look lovely. I love the sleeves and neckline. What's it made of - it looks quite satin-y?

Looks like a great wedding too!

That dress was made for you Curtise you look stunning in it. I'm with Vix on wedding receptions and tend to avoid them if I can but must admit a few pints does make them more bearable. I can get a bit shitty if they don't have draught cider tho! ha ha.

Thanks for your lovely comment.xx

I am in the group that avoids weddings if at all possible, although there was a time when I did wedding photography. YOu look smashing in that dress; I love the fluttery sleeves, and the waist-nipping cut. I'm sure everyone was secretly envying you. You do "wistful" very well!

I love that you can be both gorgeous AND pissed :P I love a great wedding reception, especially the ones where the only thing you can remember the next day is standing on a table and telling everyone how much you loved them :P

Stacey said...

What an amazing frock! I wouldn't have been able to take my eyes off you all night in that gorgeous dress.
