Denim and Doncaster

Look at that sunshine!

It's been cold but beautifully clear; I like these lovely in-between days when I need extra layers but haven't yet unearthed my faux furs from storage.

Denim dress, cardigan, belt and bangles - charity shopped
Clockhouse 1970s-style patchwork suede jacket, boots and 70s tooled leather bag - Ebay
Pendant - gift

I had a feeling this denim shirt dress would look good layered up with tights and boots, I'm liking the 70s vibe...

...although I'm clearly not showing anything like enough thigh.

When my mum and sister came up to visit in half term, we went to Brodsworth Hall, near Doncaster, and I somehow never got round to putting the photos together into a blog post.

So here they are.

There is much to enjoy in the Victorian house and gardens.
No photos were allowed in the house (I got told off for getting my camera out, although there were no signs to say photography wasn't OK and my mind-reading skills are clearly ineffective).

We loved the elegant statues and beautiful monkey puzzle tree...

...the ghost trail, Victorian ironwork, pets graveyard...

...autumn colours, fungi, sheep, topiary...

...and the sunlight through the trees.

A ridiculous child photo bombed the topless statuary...

...and the kids enjoyed some time with their Grandma.

A good afternoon.

And should we have a Gratuitous Pussy Pic to finish?

Of course we should!

Yay for stripes, and for gratuitous pussy pics! Doncaster looks like a lovely place to spend an afternoon - love the pet graveyard.

Yes, you are not showing enough thigh - undo a few more of those buttons, will you?

Oh, and: FIRST, SUCKERS!

There's a Victorian pet cemetery somewhere in Hyde Park that I've always been curious about but it's not open to the general public, pity.

That's a nice bag, that. Unusual shape

This outfit is doing all the right things for me. Could be the purple, could be the fab denim, could be the stripey tights (and little flash of thigh) or it could be those ridiculously gorgeous tan boots. LOVE it!!!!! Looks like a good day out with your mum and kids and who could go wrong going on a ghost walk. XXX

Have you noticed how your boots are the exact same colour as you hair? It's colour co-ordinating at it's very best.

Bloody hell, Brodsworth Hall looks a bit of allright! Just another fabularse British monument to gloriarse building!!! I expect there's been an Antiques Roadshow filmed there!(tried to enjoy one of those last night, bloody neighbours music made it impossible! Earplugs in and into bed) Splendid setting for a day out with Grandma. I'd enjoy it too, ghost walking with the best of you!

Gratuitous pussy pix are always a winner and definitely show more thigh, you are The Body, after all!
Loving that dress on you and despite being a winterphobe I'm always pleased to see that gorgeous Clockhouse jacket make an appearance.
Brodsworth Hall looks fab . Why do so many of those places not bother putting a sign up about no photos being allowed? Its so embarrassing to get told off, isn't it?
Love seeing Grandma and the kids together. Isn't eldest getting tall?
Love ya! xxxxxx

Well, clearly you're not showing enough thigh. Do hope you see fit to make amends in due course. Although, you do look pretty damn fit, so maybe that makes up for it.

Eldest is as tall as her grandmother. When did that happen? I am delighted to see Littlest looking like a titch, along with Seldom Seen. Please make sure they don't go growing up any more. They are too cute to change.

Lovely days out, historic properties, cold sunny days, purple beret and cardi combo, tooled leather bag, gratuitous pussy pic. Actually you've done really rather well. I've reviewed the situation and I pronounce: No extra thigh needed. xxxxxx

I'm totally loving this denim dress and I can't believe it! Denim dresses have scared me in the past because I only picture the really long ones the amish gals seem to wear :) This one rocks! You have funked it up real good with those striped tights and patchwork jacket, that I adore!!!

Lovely day out with the kids and your Mum indeed, love the shot of your oldest giving the thumbs up, kids:) Your pussy is looking rather frisky today:)
XXOOloveyou!

Lovely denim frock. I weep that years ago I gave an almost identical one away. That was before I learnt that I WILL wear things years later and therefore don't be too quick to cast aside frocks because I am sick of the sight of them.

I have a pair of socks in those stripes and only the other day I was thinking how cool they would look in tights. But of course you are way ahead of the pack and the rest of us can only trail in your wake catching reflected awesomeness.

Mmmmm...gratuitous pussy pics huh? What are your search stats looking like now??

Flaming excellent outfit! striped tights, awesome boots, patchwork jacket, love it!
I would love a ghost walk too, I've been freaking my trainer out with my stories, poor thing putting up with an exuberant, scary middle aged woman! Brodsworth Hall looks like an amazing place, the kids look happy with their Grandma, looks like a top day!
lush, fluffy pussy pics are always a delight! x x x

Love the face of the photo-bombing Eldest! It does take some of the stuffiness out of the statuary, eh? And your denim dress with boots looks retro-fabulous. I wore boots today too, with Florida temps finally dipping to 70 degrees, hooray! xoxo

Brodsworth Hall looks like it was a jolly good day out, love the pet cemetery, gosh Polly certainly lived a long life. I love the way you get your brood involved in beautiful, natural, historical places ... they look all fresh-faced and brimming with good health. Love that denim dress and you wear it so well. I really like Brodsworth Hall - I love the way it hasn't been tarted up and just left as they found it. When I moved in with my hubby in 1989 in Donny, the old lady still lived in Brodsworth Hall with her maid and man servant. xxxx

Cold, clear days are great for engaging in a bit of layering fun (without having to bundle up). And denim dresses are perfect for that. I always combine mine with stripes too for the 70s vibe.
Looks like a lovely day at Brodsworth Hall.

Gotta love the pussy pic! That did make me giggle! I love your posts Curtise! I've never heard of this hall before, your photos make it look like a lovely place to visit. I will have to put it on my to do list.

I popped to the flea market today and was having a chat with one of the stall holders. I mentioned to her about blogging and you came up in conversation. She said you had been today. It's a small world isn't it! Did you get some goodies? I got some very cute lace doilies!! :-) xxxx

Oh that is one fantastic 70's vibe Curtise....love it. The stripe tights are fabulous and the leather handbag is amazing.
Yay a day with Grandma......I miss my Grannies so much.
It must be wonderful having such beautiful historical places to visit....the gardens are heavenly. Do you think the parrot was Polly and then they found out it was a boy and drooped the P? Oh sorry my mind is wandering.
Hope you have a fabulous day.
Much love V

Curtise, you are such a thought leader. Now everyone is going to want to share their pussy pics on their blogs...lol.

Love the vicarious excursion. I'm living through you right now. No pressure or anything...lol.

Love the denim dress. You make me want brown boots, although I know myself well enough to know I always buy black ones :/

Loving that denim dress, you look lovely.
There's been some cracking sunshine between the rain here, too. But, cor, it's chilly!

I love your hair with purple! More purple please!
The gardens there look very similar to Knebworth. They also have a pet graveyard that makes you weep if you read the inscriptions on the gravestones telling how wonderful the animals were.
Oh, I got my first perverse keyword search on my blog. It was ''bent over booty'' so that's exciting.
I'm sure he was rather disappointed...

LOVE the photo of your Mum with the kids! They are so lovely and they are all getting so big (well not your Mum, she's not getting big) and I still haven't met them. Damn, damn the lottery when will it be my turn to win! (I realize actually buying a ticket would greatly increase my chances but damn them anyway).

Littlest seems a little bit worried, but I know that 7 years old girls love ghosts, my daughters would be very happy to take the tour with you! The place is wonderful and I like to visit all those mysterious buildings, statues and graveyards for a massive dose of inspiration!
Thank you so much for sharing with us, I love England so much for places like that..and not only! I really enjoy your funky 70's outfit, you really look like a model from the glossy magazines! The denim dress is perfect with the striped tights and I have a soft spot for your patchwork jacket!!
Love xxxxxxx

What a glorious pussy pic, she is a beauty and you are a delight in denim. Brodsworth Hall looks a good day out even if no snaps permitted inside. (bah humbug) Won't the children look back on wonderful memories of their childhoods when they are grown ? I'm sure Grandma enjoyed it too. Polly did do well!

You are so sexy, you're in Technicolor! I've come up with a new word for it; Sexnicolor!

This is so fun revisiting. Sometimes I can't even figure out how to sign in to my blog. I seem to have lost my mojo or something...sometimes it gives me a sign-in box and sometimes it acts like blogger has never met me before. Erg!

Well, I'm here now and that's what counts. Look at your kids, they've grown since the last time I've seen them. How does that happen??

Miss you! And by the way, I got a huge compliment recently on that leopard print sweater dress I cut up that you sent me. Remember the dress turned cardigan?? LOL

And I always keep that Kangol hat in my car for when I take the top down!

Love ya!

Love the second pic Curtise, that denim dress is proving to be very versatile indeed and I love it with the patchwork jacket. Also love the photo bombing picture, makes me smile with that cheeky little face popping in there. Doncaster looks like a great place for a day out, I've never been to a pet cemetery, though our garden is slowly becoming one in its own way I guess. It's great to see such a beautiful place and you've captured it so well in your photos, I love the ivy covered chains, as another commenter said, I'm having a vicarious day out through this post, as it's damp and miserable here today. You always seem to do really fun and educational things with your family, makes me feel very guilty! xx

Gorgeous 70's splendour. You remind me of Ali McGraw, especially in your knitted hat xx

Lovin' the denim dress with the purple accents!!! But that purse REALLY knocked my socks off! Bravo! All of the sudden I've become enamored with tooled leather purses...I'm actually going into my closet right now to hang up/display my collection, much to my husband's dismay! LOVE yours!!!

The day out looks perfect and very interesting!
Have a fab sunday dear! xx Tani

It looks like Olly parrot had a very good life. I would get the heebie jeebies visiting a pet cemetery. I think it would also make me feel sad. If not that then maybe scared after watching the pet cemetery movies when I was younger. *LOL*

Ooh I love the 70s vibe too. You look a million feet tall and the shade of purple is exquisite with your hair.

Love the ridiculous child photobombing.
