You've lost that loving feeling

A foggy start became a sunny day.

Which was a bit of a metaphor for my mood, as it happens.

This 1970s maxi skirt was one of my vintage fair purchases on Saturday.

The colours are pure Krista!

See? The bright colours made the sun come out!

And darling Tamera's fabulous Frida pendant couldn't fail to perk up any outfit.

So I was ever-so-slightly in a funk this morning.

We have another jumble sale at school on Saturday, and I have been designated Captain of the Good Ship Jumble. I look forward to doing them, more than any other fund-raising event we organise.

However, there are disagreements about how to allocate the money we have raised for school - issues of who gets what and when are being debated.

Giving away the money we raise is supposed to be the fun part, it's supposed to feel good.
So why am I feeling stressed about it? I have a rather acute sense of fairness, and I like things to be equitable and transparent, it troubles me when decisions are made without a cogent rationale.

I also worry that I sound like a pompous arse...

1970s maxi skirt - vintage fair
T-shirt, cardigan, bangles and hair flower  - charity shopped
Belt - retail (sale)
Sunglasses - vintage shop
1980s boots - Second to None, Walsall
Frida necklace - handmade by Supermodel Tamera
Grumpy face - all my own doing

And yeah, I might have a tiny tendency to think I am always right.

A Self-Righteous Sister, if you will...

I will concede that occasionally I'm not.

But I do run a bloody good jumble!

Off to cheer myself up by seeing what you are up to this week, my lovely friends!

xxxx

That, my dear, is a particularly boobiliscious top. Not that I was staring. Love the skirt too.

Let them think what they like Self-Righteous Sister ;)
There are always going to be some people thinking you sound like a pompous arse for arguing your point, especially when you are not agreeing with them.
You just carry on fighting your corner, if it feels right, chances are it probably is!
I'm in love with your outfit today, that maxi skirt with its bold blooms is magnificent and you've styled it to perfection, you look splendiferous!
We've had an awesomely sunny and warm day here in London, I hope it lasts...xXx

Oh dear Curtise, I think we might be quite alike, NM says that about me! (Not that I am a pompous arse but a tendency to think I am always right.)
Plenty of time for stressing about funds when the jumble is over and I know it will be a rip roaring success with you at the helm. You'll get to bag the best jumble before anyone else gets to it too-result! Love your floral maxi, rather fitting on a cheerful sunny day I'd say. Shame you didn't reference a Cliff track, he came through Gatwick today. I had a good look at his bonce and guess what...it's not a syrup!

Ach, you have described me too - the strong moral fibre stuff. We like a bit of fairness, what is wrong with that?

You look ravishing today, hope the bright colours and sunshine counteracted the frustrations...

Well of course you're always right. Anybody with vocabulary like that must be. How annoying that your fellow sailors on the Good Ship Jumble don't concede that point. So very wearing.

I reckon you look knowing and ironic rather than grumpy.

Your outfit is lovely, I do like a ballerina top, that V is so attractive and I like the way it cinches the waist. Folk bracelets = yummy.

Good luck for Saturday! Hope you get to grab some treasures. xxx

Fabulous colours, a reminder of the brighter days to come.

I can certainly agree that that skirt made the sun come out, god damn! It's bright and floral and you are certainly looking fabulous in it even if your mood is somewhat more foggy!!

And there is nothing wrong with fairness, isnt it one of the many things that we all try to teach our children, so why not lead by example, you go get em girl!

Patti said...

You look like you could *command* the sun to come out - so smashing in your finery. And please go on being "fair" - we could use a lot more of that sensibility!

I'm almost positive you are always right, especially when it comes to the PTA. How can such a well meaning organisation succeed in raising the blood pressure quite so high? Still, hopefully you will be rolling in cash to such a degree that you can bestow bounty on all comers.

Lovely skirt and boobalicious top!

Love the cheery skirt, Curtise, and yes, it's very Krista! Glad to hear you're Jumble Sale Captain - I have no doubt it'll be a bloody good jumble! - but sorry there is internal strife re: allocation of funds. Transparency is key in these matters, I agree. Hopefully you can bring the others round to your point of view, and that you also get a chance to rummage at the jumble! xoxo

Our sunny day's just become a foggy night, bizarre!
That skirt is Kristalicious and you're looking remarkably boobalicious in that fabul-arse spotty top and trademark Curtise cardi.
My Mum was a school governor and used to get irate with the in-house bickering and stupid for-the-sake-of-it arguments. How can some people be so petty?
I know the jumble will be a roaring success and I hope you manage a few fab scores to make up for all the hassle. xxxxxx

I'm the same way about school fundraisers - the fighting makes me feel less good about it all.

Also, totally a Krista skirt!!!

Bugger! I'm going away for the weekend! Next me know next time. By the way, I have become you. I am going to a 1940's weekend in May and have been gathering items for a costume - I am just loving wearing it! Just need a boogie woogie bugle boy to hang on my arm !! xxxx

You may feel a tad grumpy but you look radiant. I just love the maxi, another great find, those colours always lift the mood. Phone wanted to type The Mound, sounds filthy. Good luck with petty school bureaucracy, sounds typical to me! Don't worry you're queen of the jumble, crack that whip and keep the whingers in line, whilst looking divine xxx

Krista said...

What Louise said dam Curtise you are looking like a fox in that last photo! BAM, you really do have a friggin rocking ass BOD! You can't be grumpy or frumpy with curves like that:) and yes those colors are so me Curtise happy and bright and beautiful on you.

Bummer about the difficulty over distributing the profits from the sale. I hate to say it but sometimes you have to put the hammer down. If you feel strongly about something make it known (something tells me you do) but sometimes I think you sweet English folk are so polite, there is truth to that right? :)

Here's to sunshine on your face, a little money in your purse and perky beautiful breasts, namely yours.

LOVEYA!!!

I hated going to P&F (or P&C meetings) That's what they're called here depending on whether your kids are at a private or public school. There was always so much bitching, and they dragged on and on...and on! Not my cup of tea at all, but I take my hat off to parents like you who work hard and get on with it without expecting anything in return. You don't look grumpy at all, and I'm sure your jumble will be an outstanding success - with you at the helm lovely Curtise, how could it be anything but?!

You brought the sun out with your flowery skirt and your sunny personality. Those jumble organizers have certainly got your number. "Let's call Curtise! She'll do it!" They are lucky to have you!

I like jumbles too!

Well, naturally you are right and those biatches should consider themselves lucky to have you on board! Shall I come over and take care of them for you?

On the sunshiny side... you look FRICKIN GORGEOUS! Yes, that skirt is absolutely beautiful and your racktacular bosom is especially glorious in that lovely top. I love the boots best!

Love! Sarah xxx

Wowzers woman you're looking busting and babe-a-luscious, I'd just strutt in to the jumble sale wearing exactly that, striking your last pose and tell them to listening up.

Those lovely red boots go great with that outfit and I love those bracelets. I can never wear bracelets, they drive me nuts but I have several that I love anyway. Good luck with your jumble sale.

I'm sure personality/politics come into play with things like spending fundraising money. Just think, wherever it goes its got to be good for the kids. I do agree - quite a boobalicious top - look fab and I know you run a FABULOUS jumble, I wish I could be there xoxox

Glad my PTA days are over - I remember the angst! You look fab. I'm going to try and find a great maxi skirt - well its a good excuse to go charity shopping, not that I really need an excuse!

Oh God, Curtise, how I'm glad that I was a totally hands off parent (why am I saying "was"? Still am!) when it came to PTA matters. Can't be arsed with politics schmolitics and other annoying mums. Like Connie and Sarah say, they are lucky to have you and I know that you'll work darn hard to make the jumble a success. Enjoy it! xx

Well, I think it's time to write a policy for PTA fundraising events - I'll help!
Oh, wasn't the weather glorious yesterday, enough to cheer up the most jaded souls (eventually). damp and drab today here.
Krista colours indeed, and they look super with the tone of your hair.
I do love your pompous arse, you're destined for better things than this PTA lark Curtise, so do take a deep breath and just remember that few people are as smart as you.

I suspect that you ARE right most of the time. I haven't seen any indication that you're irrational or unintelligent. That can be a challenge, though. That's where diplomacy comes in, I suppose.

In the meantime, enjoy your sunshine. I know I'm enjoying you in this outfit. The accessories are particularly special!!!

Your patterns and colors are always luscious and in this category I think you are always right!

Lovely skirt - it goes perfectly with your flower. No wonder the sun came out.
The jumble sale sounds fun. I hope it goes really well and that the conflicts will somehow slip into the background. Shame not to enjoy it.xx

Fantastic sunny outfit, impossible to stay grumpy in! And of course you're right - fairness above all. Why else do we have a democracy?

And now: Waiting for part two of "Jumblegate"! Will there be photos?

bonsaimum said...

What??? We are not right all the time? I love your skirt, how can you not feel good wearing such wonderful colours. I admire your involvement with the school. I must admit I steered well away from parent committees as I couldn't stand the back biting.

I think as long as you stay truth to yourself and your beliefs your on the right track :-) Love your outfit today so sunny and bright you look gorgeous, dee xxx

My oh My--that top and cardigan certainly put the "gals" on display!! I love the print of the skirt--very Krita-easque!!

I hope your jumble sale goes well!!

It's that time again?! I admire your perseverance!! Hey, it's all good to be a bit pompous from time to time, completely justified, in fact! Most expecially when you're wearing a rockingly gorgeous skirt like that! Such a divoon print, and perfect for Spring!!!
Ask Frida for advice if at all concerned. She'll give it to ya, baby!
Love you more than the brightest bloooms!XXXXXXXXXXXXX

They should listen to you Curtise! You are a wise soul I think, and trying to be fair is always a good thing I think. I like things to be transparent too, I hate subterfuge and plotting. And anyway, haven't they seen how fab you look! All arguments should become irrelevant because of that alone. xx

Sarah Jane said...

You are definitely not a pompous arse. It's your children's school and it's perfectly fine to want any money raised spent fairly and in an area it will do the most good. Trouble with democracy is that other people are generally stupid! (in my experience). Nevertheless, I hope you enjoyed it. I wish my daughter's school would do stuff like that. Although, I suspect if it did, the jumble would be made up of fake uggboots and faded Peppa Pig pyjamas.

I'm glad your mood matched your outfit. Isn't it great when the weather does that. The sun is shining as I type this and it makes such a difference. I'm so ready for some brightness and colour now. I love your Frida necklace. What a fabulous craze to be sweeping blogland xxx

Pull Your Socks Up! said...

Yes you do run a bloody good jumble and I say you should be allowed to put in your two-cents worth. You're part of the school community and you must be granted your democratic right to help decide where the profits are spent. Speak up I say!!!! And do it in an freakin' awesome Krista-inspired maxi and Tamera necklace - that'll show em!!! It's lovely to see you enjoyed the sunshine lovely :) xoxoxoxoxoo
