For what it's worth

After more snow overnight, we trudged valiantly up to school this morning.

"Last one up the hill's Captain Oates!"

By the time I got back home, packaged up some Ebay sales, and had a coffee, I wanted to take advantage of the picturesque conditions for a photo session.

Yep, channelling Stevie Nicks again.

It's obligatory in this skirt, I'm afraid.

1980s Stirling Cooper sheer pleated skirt and boots - Ebay
1980s peplum jacket and silk blouse - vintage shops
Headpiece - gift
Assorted bangles - charity shops and markets
Red flower - retail  Black flower - gift from darling Sarah
Necklace - bought in Zakynthos many years ago

No - I confess I did not do the school run in this outfit.

Sheer skirts and burlesque headpieces would garner an excess of side-eye in the playground...

Serviceable home front tweed again.

Come on - it's cold!

And I do love this 1970s wool coat, it has more than repaid its £10 price tag.

Jess and Charlie enjoy playing in the snow.

Charlie hides under the foliage and jumps out to chase any unsuspecting passerby, myself included.

More snow is forecast.

I just knew this skirt and jacket were made for each other.

I might wear them for my night out on Friday (a friend's birthday).

And the miniature hat - bugger the side-eye!

I'm linking up with hostess-with-the-mostest Patti, since I'm feeling particularly visible this Monday.

And at the risk of appearing to be some Stevie Nicks obsessive, I'm posting this video because her outfit in it reminds me of mine, and because she looks so much like my new blog crush, the very talented and stylish Tamera - take a look at her blog profile pic and see for yourself!

And look!
 I've reached 200 followers!

Thanks to everyone who pops in, to those who comment and those who just pass through.
I appreciate you dropping by!

The red and black look so dramatic in the snow.
And what a fab coat for the school run. Perfect.

at skirt is so Stevie. A spot of whirling and twirling is obligatory. I also love your wool home front coat. I would wear such a coat with pride. It reminds me of something the ladies of Miss Marple's village would wear - I mean that in the best possible way! xxx

Oh yes, that's a great outfit. A cinched in waist and a sunray pleat skirt makes for a lovely silhouette. Not surprised you felt like swaying in the arctic breeze.

Your little furry friends look like they are having a wonderful time in the white stuff! xxx

Any time we channel Stevie is a good time! She's a goddess, as are you in your swirly black skirt. Thanks for sharing all the fab with Visible Monday.

Stevie RULES!!! I have loved her forever!!!
love your take on Stevie-Style!!!

The snow looks gorgeous--we NEEd some here!! what's the use of having freezing cold weather if you're not gonna have SNOW???

I see you on that flat open plain like Stevie, your skirt blowing in the wind, your face turned to the sky. I love these romantic images - how much better they are than "Where's the next rest stop...I'm thirsty...It's too hot..."
And I love the snow pics, great contrast with the desert. Charlie is too cute! We say "Last one up the hill is a rotten egg." Was Captain Oates the rotten egg I wonder?

Ooh, fabulous! I reckon you should have worn the headpiece - would certainly have made the lollipop lady's day! The snow is melting here, but I'm not sad - I hate it when it turns to ice like it always does here. I confess to not knowing much of Stevie Nicks (beyond a bit of Fleetwood Mac), must rectify this forthwith!

Oh my, how gorgeous you look. I do adore a burlesque headdress, alas mine are all in storage. You have to wear it out because it really suits you. Fantastic to see such glamourous happening in the midst of all the snow. Xx

utterly gogeous photos! Love the twirly skirt! I already loved that jacket, it looks fabulous. You always have great gloves too. There's a hint of winder flamenco/Spanish equestrian school here. Also love the trusty tweed, it's just very cool. The mustard beret is fantastic. All round you're an inspiration and a lovely lady. xxxx

Great photo shoot, I say bugger the side eye (I get it too). You look fabulous. Isn't the snow backdrop dramatic?

Love the sheer long black maxi!!! I hate that I feel like I can't always dress the way I want when I drop the kids off at school-- side eye sucks!

Curtise, how fabulous you are. I find life much more interesting if I go about with the intention of seeing at least the outline of every woman's inner Stevie, regardless of their degree of serviceable home front-ness. You know? And there you are, in you (and dear Tamera!) it's plain to see!

Have the best Friday ever, xoxoxo

You look like a beautiful Snow Queen. What gorgeous photos today! What a treat to my eyes. And you have a special twinkle in your eyes there by that big huggable tree. Do you know a secret??

You look so beautiful in the snow, it's like the scene out of a fairy tale. The black skirt and jacket are very Victorian looking, I could imagine you throwing on a long velvet cape and being whisked off in a carriage to have a secret lieason.
Or out to a friends birthday party is fabulous!!!!!
Tee hee the pussy-cats are super cute, I love how they pounce on your legs as you move pass, crazy cute.
Stay warm Miss Curtise.
Love the tweed.

For what it's worth, you are more Labia every day!

Love your Stevie-esque outfit - the skirt and jacket are made for each other (that double peplum makes my heart skip a beat). Your headpiece is fabularse and the pic of the terrifying cat waiting to kill me in my sleep is adorable!

Love you more than THAT JACKET WHICH YOU SHOULD SEND ME!

I can't decide which look I like most but practicality wins for me - I adore the home front tweed (and staying warm!) and think the warm colours suit you with the gorgeous pop of red. I do like the drama of the black outfit though and can't imagine any side-eyeing bothering you at all! Vicky x

I love Stevie! That flowing black skirt is lovely and I love your black belted jacket. The red just adds a wonderful pop of color. So pretty. Great pics!

Gorg outfit, Curtise - and I am smiling over the idea of your dropping off the kids wearing it. But yes, the tweed is lovely and serviceable too (that's how I would justify all my coats in the cold Canadian climate!). The winter wonderland backdrop reminds me of back home. Bet the kitties were having fun in that! Xoxo

Gorgeous Stevie outfit my dear! Set off so perfectly in the snow drifts...just beautiful!

I do so remember reigning in my 'creativity' on school runs...you see if we were neighbors we could have both worn what we wanted...and let them all go 'side eyed":)
Maybe together we could have brought everyone else's inner Stevie!

Thank you so much for the shout out!! Your endorsement truly made my day!!

Such beautiful pics and you are gonna knock 'em dead - DEAD I say - on Friday night!!! Big sweaty hugs to you darling:) xoxoxoxoxo

Jess and Charlie really are loving that snow bless them :-) I can't even get Timmy near the door. Loving your outfits today you look gorgeous in both and that coat looks lush on you. dee xx

Utterly fabularse outfit today Curtise, that skirt swishing looks all the more dramatic against a 'Dr Zhivago' background. You've got to wear this on Friday, you look stunning. Tweed coat is so practical in these arctic conditions and also stylish, although a bit of side eye is no bad thing. What is it Helga says...? Better to be looked over, than overlooked.
Keep warm. xx

Should I be honest? These photos in the black outfit somehow remember me of Dr Zhivago - the movie. Maybe the snowy scenery or the somehow Russian looking outfit.

The cut of that jacket is just so PERFECT ... great choice to show off your tiny waist, pretty hat (Fascinator?) and skirt. The landscape should pay you for posing with it!

The snow and you channeling the most witchy woman Stevie Nicks herself, I love it! These photos are stunning Curtise. The outfit totally deserved three twirls and should be on heavy rotation in your wardrobe!!! I want to play in the snow with you!

SNOW!! I love these pictures - you look divine in your black outfit in the snow :D I know its cold and can be a total pain, but I do love snow (perhaps as I've only spent one winter in a snowy climate)

You've surpassed yourself with these photos Curtise, I love you in red and black swirling against the white snow, and the pics of the kitties, especially Charlie peeking out from the snowy branches. You do look very romantic and Stevie Nicks and I love this video, that is my fantasy holiday, to go on a road trip across America visiting all the little remote towns. A road trip across Britain would do though! Your friend Tamera looks lovely too, is it the same Tamera from A Treasured Past? I'm trying to see if it is but Jake and the dogs and workmen fixing the fire are all buggering up my searching. xx

Also, I keep meaning to say thank you for your lovely comment on my blog Curtise, it meant a lot. I still haven't answered my comments yet but I'll get there eventually. xx

Even your tweed looks like something you would see in a fashion magazine. Even when you goofing around, you still look elegant. I often think about your terrific photos and wish I could get that magical chic you always have.

Oh how I long for a black sheer pleated skirt. I would stop shopping forever if I had one.

That last sentence is pro'bly not true...

Curtise!! I'm almost speechless with the beauty of you in black and red with the snow as a background. I hope you do indulge and wear this outfit for your festivities.

I also adore tweed and covet your coat. I almost got a super-sized 80's tweed coat at the thrift store recently but I almost never have an occasion to wear coats. Usually a wrap will do. I love the look, though, and remember wearing tweed and baggy shetland sweaters with moth holes (for the cool factor) in the late 60's. I lived in New England and the winters were snowy and cold. I miss it.

You are gorgeous. Wish I could trudge through the snow with you! XXOO

Curtise, you'd better come to Canada and teach ME how to be fashionable in the cold and snow, because you look fabulous, and I look so frumpy it's...well, nevermind. I love the outfit though. Very dramatic!

Stevie Nicks <3 but you look so much more fun! That wool coat is amazing, and the price tag even better!
I'm glad you managed to take some photos in the snow. I was off work the other week but I was very lazy and avoided going out. Now I'm thinking I should have made the effort, by looking at your photos!

Yay to channelling our inner Stevie! I have done my Stevie twirl and swish a couple of times in outfit posts too. You really suit the Victorian cinched-waist full skirt silhouette; I love this outfit on you, complete with side-eye inducing headpiece. This post shows the two sides of you, both sassy and stylish!
