Thank you, thank you

There's much to appreciate about blogging. I feel like I have stumbled upon an addictive new hobby which I am cursing myself for not doing sooner. Always late to the party, me... But better late than never, I am now a member of THE coolest gang ever! And let me tell you - that has never happened before...

Two lovely friends and delightful bloggers, Helga and Miss Simmonds, have passed on this award to me - thank you, darlings!

These are the rules:

1: Thank the person who nominated you by linking his/her blog
2: Answer the four questions below
3: Award the Blogger Appreciation Award to fellow bloggers
4: Let the Bloggers know that you have nominated them

How long have you been blogging for?
Only since September 2011, although it feels like longer.

         Why did you start blogging?
Sarah Misfit told me to! And She Must Be Obeyed! I was following and thoroughly enjoying reading blogs but never thought I would have one of my own. Sarah, Vix and Helga were all very encouraging, so I thought I'd give it a go. I was worried about not having any USP to offer the blogging world, but I have come to realise that we all offer something unique and special because we offer ourselves. And I had no idea I would have this much fun and find so many gorgeous friends along the way!

What type of blogs do you like to follow/read?
Vintage lovers, charity/thrift/op-shopping, creative folk (though I feel a little inadequate...), some Mummy blogs as long as they are funny, good writers - I just stumble across blogs and see what they have to offer. I'm open to any recommendations.

What is the one thing you'd like to improve on as a blogger?
I can't pick just one aspect. My photos are usually crap, I should probably do something about that. I sometimes have a yearning to write more but think I sound pseudy. I wish I was funnier. I keep meaning to improve the layout but never get round to it. I'd like to discover new and wonderful friends to add to the marvellous people I've already "met".

                                                         I would like to pass the award on to;
Karen @ Ow, my angst - she makes me laugh, makes me cry, and she just lerrrves getting awards!
Fiona @ Made in a muddle - she's talented and beautiful, and doesn't seem to realise it!
Vix @ Vintagevixon - hers was the first blog I followed, and she's a legend and a lovely friend.
Sarah @ MisfitsVintage - she's helped me loads, and her style and wit are awesome.
Melanie @ Bag and a beret - she's creative, clever, thoughtful and innovative.

I could easily pass on this award to lots of bloggers whose style, humour and intelligence I love and appreciate - I think you know who you are!*

(*Debberoo - if you ever bloody posted, I'd include you! Come on, I miss you!)

So that's the business taken care of. Now the important stuff - what am I wearing?

I seem to be wearing a lot of green at the moment. Perhaps it's an unconsious desire to match the garden, which is particularly lush at the moment with all the rain we have had.

I'm not smiling, I'm grimacing. Charlie, the little shit, was biting me, he hates being picked up.

All the fallen cherry blossom looks like confetti has been flung around the garden.

1970s maxi skirt (flea market, £5), cardigan and belt (charity shop, both £1), 1970s mint green peasant blouse (jumble sale, 30p), bangles (charity shop, 50p-£1), Clarks ankle boots (community centre fair, £2), necklace (gift from lovely Krista). So this whole outfit comes in around a tenner or so (even the bra was charity-shopped for £1.25!)

I can't help adding videos from Youtube to my posts. My kids get irritated when I sing a line from a song based on something they've said; I like to think of it as a skill. I know a lot of songs, and I need to sing them!

I love Natalie Merchant, and this song is especially apt. The video makes me think of Desiree and her Carnivale/Circus Girl costumes. Enjoy!

oooh I don't remember that song but I can imagine Des in those outfits.

I love your green outfit, very lush in a west country/welsh way. I used to have a cat, I miss his evil ways!

I love blogging, I'm so glad I found you and everyone else, I just need to meet up with people in real life now!

Super cute outfit, especially love the boots. I'm with you when it comes to this blogging thing. The goodness in it is so vast, it's hard to list it all. It's definitely a great tool for women to appreciate and encourage each other. It's made me finally step out of myself and dress more creatively.

Curtise - you are so bloody funny. Funny enough to make misery-guts Lucy laugh her head off. No mean feat.
I'm so so glad you started blogging. The award is well-deserved, and I love the opportunity to find new bloggers to stalk.
You have such a refined elegance, whatever you wear seems to work. you haven't got any of that wobbly/lumpy flab going on, have great proportions and a true eye for style.

Keep up the good work, I insist.

I do that too, sing songs according to what someone says. I also like to remind my daughter of the original old timer versions of some of the songs she likes. Anyway, who cares. Love you, love your blog, love your style. Keep on blogging. Long may you reign. xxx

You are great and you knows it! And your blog *is* individual, you're far from another 'me too' blogger. You have your own look and your own slant on things - plus you have kids and a regular life and still give me hope of achieving some semblance of style!

Congratulations xxxx

Thank you Curtise. I will get to it! Just poke me with a sharp stick if I take my usual amount of karen time.

Ah, Natalie--takes me back to my 10,000 Maniacs days.

You look lovely in green, even if the kitty was being very evil to you.

Congrats on the award, well deserved and by such lovely ladies!

I too am still smitten/obsessed with blogging and the best part are the amazing people from around the world I've connected with, like you, many of which feel like real life friends!

Love the minty green maxi. I just bought cashmere blend minty blazer and can't wait to figure out how to wear it! Great color for spring/summer/fall.

You're on the blogroll now. I somehow thought you were already up there so my apologies for not posting it sooner. xo. Bella Q

Oh you darling creature, thank you so much for thinking of me when popping in this beautiful music video into this lovely post:)). I don't think I will EVER tire of the sartorial circus/carni-related possibilities in my life and there is some fabulously weird and wonderful eye-candy for me to feast on here:))). Def bookmarking this vid on You Tube and then I'll blast myself out of a cannon wearing a tutu and purple glitter eye shadow. I am so happy you started a blog because you always left such funny and thoughtful comments for me and I really, really wanted to "meet" you. You always make me laugh loudly and The Phoenix is glad I've make a friend from Sheffield - you are a rare and beautiful treasure my friend and I say YES to green, green and more green!! I LOVE your skirt and floral mix, oh and your wild pussy;). xoxoxoxoxoxooxxo
