Live my days instead of counting my years

I know my blog has a vintage/style theme, it's the hook on which the blog hangs, and of course I love my clothes - and seeing yours!

But what is really fascinating about blogging is that conversations develop, bloggers pick up themes and issues from each other, and explore them in their own way.

Posts, comments, further posts - all these brilliant women talking and sharing their thoughts and experiences, I love it.

It's a great big international chin wag, just pour yourself a glass of something lovely, or make a cuppa, and join in!

We have mulled over what sexy means to us, and had a good old laugh about the usefulness of male strippers, thanks to Melanie.

We've considered modesty with Patti, explored with Jan the possibility of dressing so that our age is irrelevant, and embraced our womanliness with Mrs V.

We've thought about aging with Desiree, and how/whether it impacts on us.

We've looked back at old photos with a wee bit of wistfulness, but acknowledged that the women we are now are pretty damn fine.
Val's and Vix's posts on the subject are fabulous. Touching, thought-provoking, revealing.

Yep, this is why I love blogging.

Kiss Me Kitty leggings - gift from the fabulous Cristi
Black dress, print dress and bangles - charity shopped
Sunglasses - gift from darling Helga
Sandals - retail
Necklace - gift

Such great leggings - thank you so much, Cristi!

And I love these prints together too.

And here's a kiss for all my blogging friends - you are fabulous!

We're off to my eldest sister's for a few days, which will include the posh Black Tie party to celebrate my brother-in-law's 60th and my niece's 21st birthday.

I think we will all scrub up alright for the occasion. The Man is suited and booted, the kids have their outfits sorted, but me?

Still haven't decided. I've narrowed it down to three dresses. I'm having a shoe crisis. Shall I - outrageous! - buy some new ones?

It's so hard, being me. No one knows what I go through.

I hope to keep track of you all via my iPad while we are away, but forgive any slackness in commenting.

And if I stay sober enough to take lots of pics of the bright young things at the party, not to mention the gorgeous older ones too, I will do so and share them on our return.

Much love!

xxxx

Oh I so agree, Dear Curtise. We are a good old bunch out here in blogland aren't we. I'm pouring myself a glass of wine right now! I think you should definitely get a new pair of shoes. You can never have too many shoes (you can tell I've been on a shoe diet). And I think you should poof your hair up like Dusty's. Loves ya.

How did you know I'd just poured a glass of Merlot?? Well, I deserve it after a long hard day of being a Modern Woman : > Love this post, and your reflections on blogger friends. So you know ... on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at about 6:00 in the evening, Central US time, a large glass of decent Merlot will be raised to you with a "To Curtise" and clunked against Dan's big mug of Dos XX Dark, no lime. To which he will reply "To Curtise". To which I will reply " Long may she WAVE! "
Thank you.
Have a great time, go safe, enjoy completey.
We love you.

So well said Curtise! I feel exactly as though I'm sharing a glass of wine with a few good friends. Okay, we're more than a few, but it does feel as intimate, and as warm, and as caring as me and you and a few!

Me so loves the printed dress with the leggings! A little frivolous, a lotta fun, and totally fabulous.

Have a great little time away!

Ahhhhhhh I'm so happy seeing your legs in Kiss Me Kitty! Nice pattern mixing honey, your pins look fab as does the rest of ya.

I do enjoy blogging and to meet some of you wonderful women in real life has been the best part for me. I rarely if ever participate in the topics going round Not because I dont care but because I can't manage the time. Please don't ever feel like you have to comment on my blog, not everyone does, it took Cristi a year i think before she emailed me. I feel like lately things have gotten weird, I'm not sure what to make of it really. I just want to play:)

Can't wait to see you and the family all scrubbed up! I bet you will all look fabulous!
Xxxxooooooooo

I LOVE those leggings! It's nice to see you shake things up a bit and leave the maxis behind for a bit. I like the black dress best, but the patterns are really cool together.

Thanks for the mention! It's so fun joining in and sharing thoughts with everyone, making sense of our clothes and our lives, and encouraging good behavior in our friends (new shoes, new shoes, new shoes, new shoes).

Hugs, Val.

Well thank you for the round-up and including me in it! Blogging is like a virtual trip to the pub, only better, we can pull up a chair, pour and drink and let rip without having to fight off an amorous pensioner in the process.
Those leggings show your fabulous legs off a treat, love them with the embroidered tunic and the funky dress, Cristi chose perfectly.
I say treat yourself to new shoes, it's not like you do it often.
Have a fantastic time, I know you'll look incredible and can't wait to see you and the clan all scrubbed up in your finery!
Love you! xxxxxx

Blogging has been a life line for me, I must say. Otherwise my life would be very very boring. I'm really happy that I decided to pick it up again a couple of years ago and very happy about the way it's developed!
Thank goodness for my blogland friends!

What a lovely way of putting it. Just one big international chinwag!

This is a different look for you, but it works brilliantly. Love the shorter hemlines and those leggings have an amazing print on them.

Go on, buy the shoes! Can't wait to see which outfit you select for the big do. But most of all have a lovely time, enjoy being away, and don't worry about us, we'll still be here when you get back :) xxxxxx

Gorgeous leggings, not a huge surprise because Cristi is pretty damn good at making leggings and she chooses such amazing patterns. Love them with the patterned dress and the plain black too, bloody gorgeous. You're gorgeous! xxxxxxxx

A black tie event and a 21st birthday party - hurrah! Oh, yes, I hope you splurge on new shoes. I like thrifting but sometimes looking for shoes that way is like wandering in the desert. I look forward to seeing what you wear.
I love that last photo of you and the leg shot. Cristi's leggings are treasures and they are rocking off the wall with that psychedelic dress.
Finally, YES, I agree how blogging is like a lovely little get-together and I can't imagine how much we would eat and drink together if this happened in the 3D world. So really, doing this online is the more calorie-wise option. I have enjoyed this latest discussion a lot and the different approaches, quiet, thoughtful, bold, silly, all thought-provoking and enriching. Great post, Curtise.
Have fun!

Oh Curtise I am super excited to see what you going to wear to the events........you will look amazing I am sure.
I have loved getting to know such incredible ladies in blogland......I do struggle sometimes with want to say and how to comment........I am not very good with how I feel about different subjects and it makes me nervous to say something. I have learnt a lot from everyone.
Sometimes I find it all a tad heavy.........it's nice to enter this world and just feel happy and light........yes a rose coloured view of the world but an easy one to deal with sometimes.
I hope your weekend so much fun.

Dear Curtise, though I haven't been able to join in, I've been following some of the fascinating discussions and thank you for highlighting a few I hadn't yet seen. I love blogging because before it I had no one to TALK TO about any of this stuff, and now look! You articulate it all so beautifully, and you in those leggings and sunglasses are a showstopper as usual! New shoes! New shoes! New shoes and tipsy pics!!! (Oh dear, I fear my over-caffeination has been amplified by your lovely patterned legs and my eyes are vibrating!) Love you, xoxoxo

I look forward to hearing all about it, including of course, which outfit you finally select. Love these leggings, too. The pattern is extraordinary and works so well with everything. XXOO

I have enjoyed all of these stimulating discussions via the 'net, although it would have been fab to have all been in the same room, with cocktails and snacks, bantering back and forth! Like Amber, I had no one to talk about this stuff with until I found my blogging mates.

The leggings provide a funky addition to your wardrobe - I love the print! Did you end up buying new shoes?

I'm having a delicious, looooooong catch-up with you darling Curtise and oh what a wonderful way to start, with this post on the great big international chin-wag that is blogging. It's simply glorious isn't it? I adore the leggings Cristi sent you and they are utterly spectacular with the blue/green/black frock - STUNNING colour mixing there and god the ruching on the bust makes your rack look divoooooon!!! Gorgeously cheeky nail polish and I wonder what you decided on with the shoe dilemma? I have massive feet (UK8) and most of the shoes in our oppy's that fit me look like canoes, so buying 2nd hand isn't much of a dilemma. Mind you, I have found some fab, gorgeous bargains at flea markets so I snap them up without a care! xoxoxoxoxoxoxo
