Seasons change with the scenery

Brrr, it's been chilly.

Colder inside our house than out, actually; the boiler broke on Monday, I had to keep my coat on all day yesterday. It's fixed now, and we're toasty again.

That's a relief, the temperatures are supposed to plummet soon.

Despite the chill in the air, I have a few roses hanging on in the garden, and my camellia is covered in buds, some of which are slightly open. Hope the first frost won't make them all drop off...

Patti, I wore my branch necklace and thought of you!

The kids think it looks more like an antler, so they call it my Rudolph necklace.

Winter sunshine and blue skies, beautiful.

I do love this dress, but haven't worn it all that much. Why is that?

As I have been working my way through my wardrobe and deciding what stays and what goes, I did consider selling this on, but that would be madness, surely?

Polka dots, lace, braid, flowers.
She's definitely a keeper, and I hereby promise to wear her far more often.

You're going to get so sick of seeing this coat. I do have plenty of others, but I'm a bit obsessed with this one right now...

Windsmoor faux fur coat - vintage fair
1970s Rawe Rheda German cotton dress - vintage shop
Hat and belt - charity shopped
Boots - Ebay
Gloves - gift
Flower - gift from camper van queen Sarah

I probably won't be able to get a photo of my angels dresses in action, but I did see the kids heading for the hall this morning to rehearse, and they looked great. The teacher said the children were happy with them, and with the addition of tinsel halos, they did look very sweet.

Haircut tomorrow; I can't wait.

And... I think that's all.

See you soon!

xxxxxxx

Aww, the "Rudolph" necklace is the new official name. Thanks for wearing it in such fine style. I vote that the dress stay, and see the light more often, even. It's fab. And I am so happy to hear the boiler is fixed. I know you love your new coat, but not as you sip your *indoor* tea : > xox

Weaving time in the tapestry. Oh there you go again. Planting another one in my brain. I don't mind. I love this song. And I love your coat. Please keep wearing it. You look so pretty. Isn't it sweet when kids get dressed up?They just know they look special and they get that cute little kid smirk...even the cynical ones...though you probably don't have cynical children where you live. I'm sure your angels are quite twinkly. Good luck with the hair snip and have a lovely evening. Drinking my vodka and lime...

Oh, gosh, I adore that coat, but I know what you mean. I am currently addicted to the Unsafe Polar Bear white faux fur coat in my closet. Must. Wear. It.

I understand your addiction to the coat would be proud to be an enabler. The dress, awesome! If you have room, keep it ALL. Why not? Okay, even if you don't have room. We need our indulgences. Kids in tinsel are so sweet. I hope you are ultra-pampered at your haircut.

I'll never get sick of that coat-it's perfect!! I love the way you wear it with the cool dress and fab (!!) boots. Glad to know you're toasty again. It's always interesting when something gives, whether it's heat, water, electricity etc. As long as it doesn't last very long, I find it a good lesson in making do.

Have a wonderful week. You've brightened mine up beautifully. XXOO

Madness indeed - the dress is gorgeous. And I can assure you I won't get sick of seeing that jacket because it is magnificent (and those boots are amazing. Are they vintage?). XXX

I can't believe you considered letting that frock go for a minute, you mad woman! You look gorgeous in it! I don't mind how often we see that divine coat, it just goes to see how versatile it is, it looks fabulous with everything. Those boots make me weak at the knees!
Patti's necklace does look like antlers, not only part OBD but seasonal, too.
After the success with the angel costumes you do know that you'll be asked to be the school wardrobe mistress from henceforth, don't you?
Happy new haircut!
Love you! xxxxxxx

This outfit is my favourite daytime look on you forever. The coat is amazing. If I could find one like that I would wear it to death too.
Enjoy the school Christmas festivities. They go by in a flash.

Aaargh the dreaded boiler breakdown - glad yours is fixed. Ours is on the blink so fingers crossed for Christmas heating! Love this dress on you and it looks quite playful with the hat, but adding the coat makes the outfit look supremely elegant! Happy haircut! Vicky x

How perfect that you have the right belt and beret for that dress! I like the different sized polka dots, as well.

And the coat is still fab, so it would be criminal *not* to wear it loads.

Don't even think about selling that frock!

You do realise you may be a victim of your own success with those angel's dresses they will have you sewing all sorts.....

The coat IS perfect. Are you like me, and wear the gift before it's even been wrapped? :) Actually I'm far worse: I once went back to a vintage shop and put the most gorg vintage coat on layaway (still have; have never blogged about) as I thought my beau would never buy it for me for Xmas. When he went back to BUY it for me for Xmas, it was already on layaway, duh! That was 20plus years ago!

I love that dress too. It has an almost folksy vibe to it that I really like. And the branch/Rudolph necklace is lovely; what a lovely giveaway to win. Xoxo

Oh yes you must KEEP that stunning dress!! It was made to be worn with your new coat!1 you look very warm and toasty!!
It's been frosty and cold here for months so nothing is growing in my garden. Except christmas lights!

joyatri said...

Yup, that dress is definitely a keeper! I especially like the floral band around the upper arm.
Blue skies? I only saw blue sky for about 5 min. today. Glad it made more of an appearance in your neck of the woods.
I'm getting a haircut tomorrow, too. But, I don't have a regular stylist here, so it's always a risky business as to whether it will look any good. Your haircuts always look great.

That dress must stay in your closet and be brought out to play more often - it is cool and flattering (best combination). That coat seems designed to encourage an obsession on the part of its wearer - it looks perfect over everything.

We had a cold spell here for about a week with lots of snow, now it's warm-ish and grey.

Keeper. You and the dress! Do not give it away or you will get a serious SAD on you. And we don't want that during the holidays.
You look delicious in it, that's why.
Glad for you that the boiler is fixed! We can celebrate together across the Big Pond. Dan had our combination AC/Heat unit fixed very early this AM ... just an inexpensive switch, but we're back in business. Good thing, too, because a record breaking ice storm is on it's way ... we're likely to be closed the entire weekend at the restaurant. That has never happened in 18 years! $$$ I need down the tube, but the bright spot is that Dan can cook at home for moi! You will be seeing the "fat and happy" Jan next Monday!
BTW, I've always wanted to know: does your keyboard have a pound sign, upper case above the numeric 4? (Where our $ is?)
Love your very romantic coat ... can't see it enough, really. I have one I'm obsessing over as well. You'll see it soon.
Happy week, our Curtise

Love the coat and boots together Curtise, and that dress does have all kinds of great things going on so yes, it would be madness to get rid of it! I love the little branch necklace too. Didn't you feel pleased with yourself when you saw all the little angels kitted out by yourself? It's absolutely freezing here, feels like your skin's getting flayed off when you're out in it, and I'm sure Yorkshire is freezing too, so I'm happy to hear your heating got fixed. xx

I love that dress too, especially like the floral bands on the sleeves. If you ever get tired of it, think of me won't you...I'd gladly give it a new home. Boiler trouble - what a bugger, mine went tits up also last month, luckily it was not too cold and good old dad fixed it, saving me a packet.xxxx

freckleface said...

Oh the tedious inevitability of the boiler breaking down. It's not so much 'if' as 'when'. Snoozeworthy. Praise the Lord you got it fixed quicksticks though.

Now then, to business. This frock. What were you thinking? She's a keeper, has it written all over her. Folksy, jolly, fits to perfection and looks great with The Coat. Sorted.

I'd so love to see the little angels in their costumes. I bet they looked adorable! xxxxxx

Oh my I LOVE that frock. It's so lovely. Polka-dots, red trim and floral, & I especially love the chevron stripes. I'm feeling rather jealous of you all rugged up. Oh how I loathe the Queensland summer! Xx

I swear I'll never tire of that coat. NEVER!!!! Wear it everyday and send me a pic. I'm fine with that. You don't wear that frock? Indeed, why not? What I really like about it is that there's so much going on and you carry it all off so elegantly ... the pros of being such a willowy, sexacious wench. What are the roses and camellias thinking? I think that had so much fun partying during your lovely long, hot summer, they're not ready to throw in the trowel (groan). I hope you're well sweets and work is a welcome novelty? You can swear at all the Christmas shoppers under your breath with the best of 'em. xoxoxoxo

Yes, keep! It's so interesting and well-designed and lovely! I don't ever get tired of your clothes. Your coats make me wish I was more imaginative in the outerwear department. I'm terrible. I'm famous for my Sleeping Bag Lady coat, which I'ma man up and post on the blog someday when I'm, uh, man enough...lol.
