The Look of Love

I don't do Valentine's Day (neither does Other Half, so we are well matched!) but nevertheless, I know a lot of you love the Lovefest, so I am dedicating this post to all you romantic souls!

See my miserable cynical face. No wonder I don't get a Valentine, hahaha!

This fabulous 1960s maxi was one of my St. Mary's purchases from Jill's stall. I popped in to her opening day at Sheffield Antiques Centre on Sunday, she has some lovely stock but I was sensible for once and did not buy!

Check out my new shoes, woohoo!

Everyone should release their inner Dusty Springfield, it's so good for the blue-eyed soul.

And speaking of blue-eye soul, here's Sheffield's ABC with their 1980s take on love. Well, I couldn't use the Look of Love as a post title and omit this one, could I?

So a little 80s frock action to complement the song is in order.

I bought this dress for £2 from Chesterfield flea market; it's meant for Ebay really but I'm just giving it a little whirl before I sell it. Test driving the merchandise, it's all part of the service!

What do you think? Do you like your lovin' 1960s or 1980s style?

So for all you lovers out there, have a delicious Valentine's Day! May it be filled with hearts and flowers and Luurrrrve!

That first dress is glorious, loving the square neckline and wild pattern!! That 1980s frock looks pretty hot with the red tights and crazy specs.
Great song choices, too!
We love exchanging silly gifts. One year I got a denim jacket Jon had found in the road...oh, the romance!!!xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Blimey, your outfits are heart stoppingly fabulous today, I'm seriously loving them both. The maxi is perfect on you, but the 80s outfit is adorable too, why on earth are you selling it? You should keep it for sure, it's lovely xx

I love a square neckline and a red dress, you look fab in both of these Curtise. Thanks for all the great video's you share with us,(I wouldn't have a clue how to do it) I always sing along. Wasn't Dusty amazing and Martin Fry wasn't bad either. Bizarre video but I remember the song so well.

You are one styling woman with attitude (a good thing!). I love that maxi dress - the sleeves of course, so dramatic, and I am all about drama. The heels with RED TIGHTS are fantastic with it. Luurrrving all the hearts and non-Valentine's love energy.

I ironed my hubbys shirts for valentines, its the only time I ever do it and he loves it, thought I suspect he'd prefer to see me in a frock. You make me want to wear dresses again, and if I had your waist i would!

Curtise, that first dress might be one of my favourites yet! The colours are so juicy good!

How come you're putting the 2nd dress on ebay? It's fun too!

It really depends what mood I'm in as to whether I prefer the 80s or 60s. In this case I love your 60s maxi dress and 70s platforms but I lovely Marty et al from ABC (also a big Dusty fan) but that song is so damn infectious xxx

Firstly Curtise, keep the red dress! It looks so lovely on you, especially teamed with those red tights and gorgeous beige shoes. Have another look at the pics...I'm sure you'll change your mind about putting it on ebay. Why should someone else look fabulous, when it can (and should be) you!

ABC! More teen-age memories! Can't get the lyrics out of my head now though. Just wondering, did you like The The?

Thanks for your saucy little comment on the Honey house too. Very funny!

The Phoenix and I are listening to the dulcet tones of Martin Fry as I type this - isn't he magnificent? A voice to die for and I think he's an awesome actor. Now to the super important stuff, your maxi frock fits your bod beauuuuuuuuuuuuutifully - lurving it soooooooo much and OMG I wish I had smaller feet coz those shoes are incredible - they look 40s - did they have smaller feet back then? Were boat-feet people like me ushered to the comfy, sensible shoe department? Eeeeek!! I was never a Valentine's Day person until I met The Phoenix and understood the whole reason for celebrating St V's beliefs: he believed that people who loved each other should be allowed to be together. Thank you for all your lovely comments and support my friend. xoxoxo

This year obviously we did in a small way.

I am in love with your 60's frock
seriously you look really great in it too. OH and I love your new shoes!! (MINE WERE TOO BIG ... So I passed them on to Mom who is one size bigger.)

We are cynical old souls at our house too, though to his credit he did ask today what we should do for Valentine's Day. I love both of these looks and am so glad to see another in red tights today.

Both outfits are super awesome - but the heart shaped sunnies make the 80's outfit a winner for me:D
