Flying colours

After wearing an unusual (for me) amount of black, I did promise you some colour, didn't I?

And I like to keep my word.

I've had a busy week.

I've been either working, shopping, cooking, doing laundry, or catching up with friends; throw a British Gas engineer visit, two parents' evenings and job interview into the mix, and blogging finds itself at the end of a long list of Stuff To Do.

This is what I wore to my interview.

A job selling vintage should come with a requirement to wear it, don't you think?

1960s Admyra jacket and 1970s St Michael pussy-bow blouse - charity shopped
1970s Tricosa maxi skirt - antiques centre
1960s vinyl bag and ankle boots - Ebay
Bangle - gift from Fiona

I am waiting to hear the outcome of the interview; they will either think I have a passion for vintage and a wealth of great ideas, or that I am an annoyingly gobby know-all .

We shall see.

1970s maxi dress - £5 sale rail, vintage fair
Jacket, clogs, necklace and bangles - charity shopped

I match the fuchsia, lavender, and the turning leaves of the Virginia creeper.

My new-to-me 1970s apron has a distinctly autumnal look to it as well; by rights, it should belong to (pinni)Vix.

I might just sneak in to Patti's Visible Monday party (even though it's Thursday - oops.)

Right; more cooking to be done now, and hopefully I'll be catching up with you all later.

It's all go!

Yep it's a busy time of year and blogging falls by the wayside here too.
Fingers and toes crossed for the job. You'd be soooo perfect.
I'm loving the red and purple together! xxxx

Keeping everything crossed for your interview.
If the job was given on style alone, you'd get it hands down.

I love what you wore for your interview. What did you wear for the visit from British Gas?

If they don't give you the job expect howls of protest from this quarter.

You're looking very smart and glamtastic! I hope you get the job!!! Hope you have SOME downtime!!x

I love your interview outfit. That purse is a killer. And I have no doubt that you were best dressed at the parent teacher conferences. Bonus points for your children. The shop would be INSANE to not hire you.

Blimey love, you have been busy.
The interview outfit was fabulous, they won't forget you in that ensemble, no George at Asda polyester trousers and white blouse combo for you. I'd give you the job on clothes alone.
I remember being over-opinionated and a bit bossy at an interview years ago, thinking I'd ruined my chances. Chatting to the man who employed me weeks later he confided that he found me a bit scary and thought I'd hunt him down and make his life a misery if he didn't give me the job.
The £5 bargain dress is a beauty, fabulous with the purple blazer and the to-die-for clogs.
I love the Pinnivics, wonderfully William Morris.
Keeping everything crossed.
Love you! xxxx

and also lovely fuchsia and purple color combo, such a cool dress, and lovely matchy clogs!
And yes, doing the laundry or running errands are not glamourous activities, but that's Real Life!! and we love it!!

I love your interview outfit and I hope your interviewers did too. That vintage apron is fab. You're doing a very good job of keeping up with the blogging whilst being busy with real life, I hang my head in shame!

You sure are busy but apparently looking stunning while doing all of that stuff. If they are not feckin' stupid they will hire you for the job and if they turn out to be stupid you wouldn't want to work for them anyhow. xoxo

I'm so blown away by both of these outfits...the colour combinations are gorgeous...and there is also pleanty of pattern in one of these outfits- absolute feast for my eyes.

I totally agree...if one sells vintage, one should wear vintage. Most of the vintage I have I got from someone, but a few items I did buy...and really vintage pieces are my favourite ones.

I think you were dressed very appropriately for the interview, I will be surprised if you don't get it! I especially love that maxi skirt! :)

I am always a bit wary of people that sell l vintage clothing but then don't wear it.

I do hope you get the job. They would be crazy not to hire you...especially when you truly look the part.

That handbag is wonderful.

Well, Curtise, you've given it your best shot and you can pat yourself on the back for that, and for looking so spectacular. It's up to the winds now. But, yeah, they would be mad, MAD not to hire you.
Life sounds like a whirl. Make sure you smoosh in some me time.

Job Interview!! Exiting! They just HAVE to give you that job - nobody can do it better!
Love your vintage style business look! That bag looks like it could house a laptop and some files easily!
The autumn leafs & late blossoms outfit is very beautiful. Genius color combination!
Thank you very much for your lovely comments - much more treasured because you are so busy at the moment! But it sounds like you'r happy with your busy life and thats the important thing! And that fab apron makes cooking more fun - is't :-)
Hugs&kisses from the continent! <3 <3 <3

Your jackets fits like a gloves, as we would say in Sweden. I wonder if that's correct ...?

A perfect ensemble for the knowledgeable woman seeking employment in vintage sales! I, too, particularly admire that stunning bag.

They would be daft not to give you the job - you've already proved you can do it by ferreting out stock to sell on eBay. Good luck with the application.

Looking forward to hearing about your interview results. I think you're a shoe in!

Radostin said...

The apron is the William Morris "Blackthorn" print; whilst the print is, then, considerably older, I'm not sure the apron itself is necessarily vintage.
I hope you don't mind me saying, but you usually like to know about these things and I was pretty sure I recognised it as being more than just "like" W.M.

You'll be a memorable interview candidate Curtise, not least for your fab outfit and if they don't give you the job they are a bunch of muppets! I can't imagine that anyone else in Sheffield has your passion, knowledge and experience with vintage items. Hope you have good news soon.
Love the pinny, I am imagining you wearing it whilst rolling out pastry. Xxx

I am empathising about the busy. You looked lovely for your interview. I do hope that you have got the job. You will be absolutely perfect for it. I couldn't think of anyone that they could have found better. You really suit both outfits. That red dress is a bit of a knock out and I am a sucker for a William Morris/Noveaux
style pattern. Beautiful autumn colours. Sending you best wishes for your job. Xx

Looking gorgeous as always I always say you look great in every colour. Love your interview outfit fingers crossed you get the news you want real soon. Have a lovely weekend, dee xx

Oh my! She got the interview, people! It's all very exciting and I have a good feeling about this whole business. If they're looking for someone who knows her stuff, who's passionate about vintage, is eager to work (even as a volunteer) and has experience of managing, well, look no further. Fingers, toes and eyes crossed. Only I hope they make a decision soon, cos the eye crossing bit is hard work. Black is fine sometimes, sometimes you feel like it, but we all know you can't beat a bit of colour. You certainly look the part in your interview outfit anqd red and purple is a killer combination. Busy, it's a curse and an affliction, but I'm not sure I know how to do anything else any more. Xxxx

Love the interview outfit, petal. Fingers and everything else crossed. You'll get it I'm sure;you're perfect for the gig.
I don't mind black, but sometimes you have to burst with colour I feel. Can't get enough orange meself.
This is a busy time of year I reckon. Still being busy is better than having nowt to do all day I guess.
Have a lovely weekend.
Loves ya.

I bet they will hook into your passion for vintage and wealth of good ideas, and if they don't they will have lost one of the best people for the job!! GOOD LUCK!!!

If you don't get the job they're clearly nuts because you're fabulous. I hope the outcome is a good one for you. I love the red and purple together. I love colour and it's funny how you've been wearing a lot of black of late, I've been wearing more black lately after finally finding a way I like to balance the heaviness of black on me. But colour will always have my heart and I love everyone in colour. X

That apron is blooming gorgeous xx

Hi Curtise
I would have given you the job on that bag alone. Pass it over here when you've done with it. I nearly bought one yesterday at Stockport, hope its not going to be one of those "should have got that" regrets.
Fingers crossed you find out soon if they have swum the channel by appointing you or living to the rule the day if they don't.
Good luck

Though it was nice to see you in black for a change still I prefer your bright colourful outfits. Like the one in this post combining a red maxi, a fuchsia jacket and lavender shoes. Fantastic!

That job sounds perfect for you! They would be fools not to give it to you!

So much color to admire in this post. You look smashing in front of the fuchsia, lavender and Virginia creeper. Fall is upon us once again!

A job interview! Can't wait to hear where this takes you!

Fabulous red and purple! And I think that's the perfect outfit for an interview for selling vintage - one person's gobby know-it-all is another's "wow, we need her!!" Good luck!

Aya said...

I think your interview outfit is one of my (many) favorites I've seen you wear thus far! If they don't want a stunning dresser with great wit, that'll be a bummer.

Forest City Fashionista said...

I'm sure that you are probably one of, if not the most, qualified candidate they interviewed. I hope the outcome is the one you want.

Fall really is the busy season, and I've been ill to boot, which means blogging is moved to the bottom of my list too, yet we still manage to post.

Catherine said...

i love the apron! is it oil cloth? I love that red dress you've got on, and how your matching it with the purple!

Unknown said...

Ah! Of course you wear vintage to the interview, and show how it responds to contemporary ideas (okay, current trends) just like you did. You could have had that bag off department store racks yesterday ...maxi, crop jacket, bow blouse, all the elements. Pretty fabulous combo. Again, more fierce wishing from me that you get your job. That blue blazer works so well with that red dress ... love that too, but you made a great choice with the other for the interview.
Off to grocery shop for the restaurant and find a bite to eat in the Big City.
It's our first hint of chill beyond the usual morning drop, and am pleased to be able to wear some layers I've been wanting to try.
