I know it's out of fashion and a trifle uncool

I've been both working and playing pretty hard of late.

I like having plenty to keep me occupied, but I must confess I reach a point where all I want to do is curl up under a blanket on the sofa with a mug of tea, and catch up on the X Factor auditions.

I'm so rock'n'roll.

Most of this outfit is newly acquired.

I had an abortive attempt at buying some Lotta from Stockholm clogs earlier this year (they are cheaper than Swedish Hasbeens, and you can buy slight seconds at an even more reduced price). However, when I tried them out by wearing them around the house, they hurt my feet so much, I was glad to take them off. The foot bed was clearly all wrong for the shape of my foot, and although I got a refund without any trouble, I was sad at not being able to wear them.

So hurrah for finding these suede Gudrun Sjoden clogs in a charity shop for less than a fiver! I love the colour, and they are comfortable enough to wear for a day at work when I am on my feet for 8 hours.

Excuse my rain-tipped toes.

Ooh, a leather skirt! Modern, but it's got a cool Seventies A-line vibe which I like.

1980s jacket (part of a culotte suit), leather skirt, tights, clogs, and vintage Austrian crystal necklace - all charity shopped

It seems appropriate to give a nod to the early Eighties, since I was reminiscing about my time at university again last Saturday.

I attended a reunion event with these lovely ladies; we were all at university together, 1982-5.

L-R; Me, Sally, Rebecca, Claire J and Claire H.

We laughed and gossiped, caught up on what's going on now as well as reminding each other of what happened 30 years ago. (What's wrong with me, I seem to have forgotten so much!) Rebecca lives in New Zealand now, so it's a rare treat to see her, and Claire H is in London; the rest of us are still here in Sheffield.

We danced to all sorts of music, but yes, there were some Eighties classics in the mix. Of course there were!

For once, I had to be sensible and was the first to leave as I was working on Sunday.

There is a quarterly Farmers' Market in Nether Edge, the suburb where my shop is located, so we open on those Sundays to capture the passing trade. It coincided with the final day of our end of season sale, and all clothes, shoes and bags were £1. It was very busy; I loved it, and we made lots of money.

It's been good to have a day off today, pottering in a damp garden with my cats.

Charlie is always the one causing bother; Minnie does not want to engage with him, especially when he's showing his arse. And who can blame her?

The girls co-exist in reasonable harmony.

I'll be joining the always harmonious get-together over at Patti's for the welcome return of Visible Monday.

Looking forward to catching up with you all!

A big huzzah for those gorgeous clogs. We are all clog nutters on the quiet. I have wondered about the comfort of Gudrun's clogs and now I know. Have to say my Hasbeens give a bit of aggro but my Lotta's aren't so bad. Love the colour...so you. Glad to hear it's not all work but lots of play, mind you, if you lurve your job, it's more play I feel.
Loves ya.

I'm relieved those Lotta clogs hurt 'cos I've been dithering over a pair for at least six months! I absolutely love yours, the colour is glorious and they look brilliant with the fab blouse and cool skirt.
Look at you girls on the lash....altogether now..."Take on meeee...take me on". You all look flipping gorgeous, I've found a few old school mates on Facebook and some of them look well scary.
The market is bustling and I'm delighted you did so well with your sale. Nothing like a busy day to counteract a hangover.
The cats look suitably disdainful. Ours are most out of sorts, they hate rain and there's a very cheeky squirrel that keeps jumping on the window boxes and giving them the eye.
Love you! xxxx

Echo beach, far away in time... I was listening to that just a couple of hours ago!

I always like the look of clog sandals more than I think my feet would like the feel of them (because my feet have high arches and most clogs are just hard and flat on the foot bed). Glad you found a pair your feet love!

What a gorgeous ensemble you're wearing today, Curtise! It somehow feels like a departure from what you usually wear, and at the same time very you! Love these clogs, so glad that they are comfy for your feet. You've been busy with not just work, but reunions lately. How wonderful that you girls still have a lot to talk about! Have that day peaceful curled up on the couch - sounds like you need one, we all need one or two at times.

thank goddess the clog adventure has a happy purple end!!!
love that leather skirt on you and what a great mix with that flowery jacket - very chic!!!
you and your friends look so young in that pics - it was really 30 years ago?! wow!
take a rest - even rockstars have to curl up from time to time!
hugs! xxxxx

Curling up on the sofa with a cuppa sounds perfect to me. I think the change in the weather is partly to blame.
You look very Alexis Carrington in your leather skirt and jacket. She'd have bigger shoulder pads and stilettos though. You could work on that.
A culotte suit sounds like the stuff of nightmares! xxxx

Gorgeous kittycats, they keep us entertained with their antics don't they.
What a wonderful find those shoes were, and the colour is so soft too.
Glad the Sunday was worth it, a £1 an item would have seen me having a good old rummage I bet people were chuffed with their end of season bargains.

I just love those clogs, but I'm nervous to try a pair out as I have very touchy feet. Maybe someday I'll find a pair that works for me!

Clogs are so satisfying to stomp around in, particularly if you can find a wooden bridge. Purple clogs (or purple footwear of any sort) win every single time. I mean, come on-purple shoes! If I owned them, I'd bathe and sleep in them as well.

How nice you were able to have a reunion with your friends from school.

I admire your skill accessorising a leather skirt. I can't do it. Obviously, I'm taking notes to learn from your mastery. It not only works, it looks terrific.

Those clogs are such a great colour. Glad you found ones that are comfy. I think that wooden insoles sound a bit too hard but will take everyone's word on them being wearable. Your outfit is great, what fabulous colours. They are a cool antidote to the dull weather. I love that leather skirt. That will be very versatile and is very rock 'n' roll even if you are feeling more pipe 'n' slippers. Your class look fabulous and glad that you had a good time. Xx

Your new purple clogs are fabulous - and as always, your shopping skills are suberb! We have three cats and no two of them can tolerate each other. And one set is brother and sister! Great outfit and lovely garden, glad you got some time to enjoy it. xox

love the clogs and the name Nether Edge. It sounds so English to my American ears. And who doesn't like kitty photos?

I love the colour of those shoes, and you know I ADORE the leather skirt! Such lovely kitties - I just want to hug them.

Awesome song for your title - Martha and the Muffins! They're Canadian!

What, pray, is uncool and out of fashion (other than me for being MIA for months?) Nope. Don't think any element of this outfit is amiss ... looking pretty nifty and on point, actually. I wonder so often what you'd think of things that I see that are brand new but so retro that they could have come right out of the time machine! Enjoy the new clogs ... they're pretty! Love you in that leather A line and the blouse just right and all you! Glad to see you are working lots and loving your job.
Don't need a pony, do you?

Purple clogs are guaranteed to brighten any damp old day and any outfit too I shouldn't wonder....what a brilliant find. Lovely to see Charlie showing his arse,Prudy used to lick hers the moment a visitor stepped over the threshold, strangely I miss it!
Glad to hear the shop is doing so well, now go & find that blanket and cuppa. Xx

Very nice, beautiful stylization and cute hair styling. Best :)

Colored flats are my alternative to jewellery when doing physical work. Wearing them with slacks has been the solution to the local challenge of finding colored tights. Your clogs are both pretty and practical, as is your selection of subtly-toned and textured tights to mate them to a leather skirt and floral blouse. I'm sure your shop's patrons look to you for inspiration!

An A-line leather skirt with clogs and purple tights? Oh yeah! I'm glad you were able to catch up with your friends from school and even more that you are able to not only stand each other's company but have a blast.
I'm glad the sale went well - there's a certain rush that comes from things flying off the shelves. I'm glad you're still finding time for yourself and your friends in your busy life.

I wish my cats lived in harmony :) they are more of a wilder type and like to fight with each others periodically, just for their own amusement I guess. Love the colour of your new clogs!

I've always liked the idea of clogs, but have never found a pair that didn't hurt my feet. Those purple ones are very cute, and an incredible price! I love the skirt - definitely cool and classy.

It's always nice to see the kitty cats - my neighbour has a black and white one that likes to nap on my lap when I'm sitting on my porch. It's almost like having my own cat, but without the food or vet bills.

I wish more of the thrift shops around here would have a clear out sale once in a while. You see some of the same stuff hanging around for ages and I can't understand why they don't slash the price and make room for new stuff.

Oh, I forget to add - I was very pleased to see a reference to Echo Beach by Martha and the Muffins in your title!! I didn't think you would be familiar with them over there as they are a Canadian band. Did another band cover that song?

Oh my god, purple clogs! They are amazing. I'd have to do like I did when I was a kid and got a pair of shoes I liked; put them by the bed so they were the last thing I looked at at night and the first thing I saw in the morning! They are seriously beautiful. And comfortable too? The chazza gods love you, especially now you're on the team. Your outfit is very cool, you really rock a leather skirt. Sounds like you are turning that shop around! Good work. I like Nether Edge. I was checking out your crowd pic to see if Q's bro and sis-in-law were there, but no. She's a redhead too. Meeting up with old friends, snuggling under a blanket and pussy cats, all good. Long may Charlie show his arse! Xxxx

Everyone is so mad for clogs! They always seem like they would be uncomfortable to me. Glad your snazzy purple ones work.
Looking killer in that leather skirt, and that shot with your reunion is so young I thought it was an old photo!
A quiet day in a rainy garden with the cats sounds perfect after a busy weekend. Xo Jazzy Jack

I was inordinately fond of your Swedish / Finnish post last week. And how about this then - my cousin in Finland has been the store manager for Gudrun Sjödén store in Helsinki. Many Scandinavian references now. Soon you will be here!

Here is still summer, ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.
I know it sounds lovely but it gets boring at times.

I always love seeing photos of your kitties - so cute!! It is great to be busy, but sometimes you are right a cup of tea and a lie down is really all your need (although I'd replace xfactor with some kind of horrible period drama). I LOVE that leather skirt and I'm sorry your other shoes didn't work out, but if it seems the universe has delivered a purple pair of clogs to wear xo
