Hmm, who could I have been meeting today in Chesterfield for a browse around the weekly flea market?
There we are, posing in the Ladies after a boozy lunch in Wetherspoons while a very kind woman took photos of us. She didn't seem to think there was anything odd about that at all, and neither did we.
It was a grey start to the day; earlier in the morning, the poor market traders had set up their stalls in high winds and snow.
But friends bring their own sunshine, don't they?
Vix and Tan perused the boxes on Joseph's stall, while Joanne tried on (and bought) a Gudrun Sjoden wool waistcoat.
Is anyone bothered about the future of Top Gear or One Direction?
No, thought not...
There is always an eclectic mix of merchandise to be found on the market.
Ballot boxes and brooches...
kitchenalia...
1950s hand-painted eggs...
annuals from the Fifties to the Eighties...
vintage games and toys...
and the biggest packet of fags in the world.
We weren't the only Seventies-clad chicks at the market today...
but I think Tania and Vix might have been the only women trying on 1970s matching maxi skirts in the loo.
Gorgeous!
And what do you know, six hours flew by in a blur of chat, browsing, laughs and gossip, and then they were gone.
But see what I mean about good friends bringing the sun?
And lovely presents from Vix too; 1970s fabric, pattern and pendant. Thanks, love!
Not much beats a day with good pals, does it?
Tomorrow, the family and I are heading to Manchester for a long weekend, so I'll catch up with you all on our return.
Have fun out there!

Blimey, that was quick! What a fabulous day we had, meeting Joanna, rummaging around the market, chatting up the stallholders and spending far too long in the pub!
What was that massive fag packet? I got distracted by those fancy chairs, or was it by Lord Greystoke?
What fab things, I missed loads of those, too busy cackling with glee, no doubt.
Me and Tania in those maxis, the height of elegance...not!
Ta for a fabulous day and lets do it again soon.
Love you! xxxxx
I wonder how long it will take Chesterfield to recover!
Did you turn the geisha ashtray over? My Granddad used to have one of those ;-)
Aha, so I was correct in my assumption. What a fab place for a perusal, Chesterfield flea market seems to have it all. Jackie annuals, (my era) groovy crochet patterns, (I would whip one up, but go braless at my age????) and vintage board games (what on earth could possibly be 'dangerous' for all the family?) So glad you had a fab day with the girls and that the sun shone. Enjoy the weekend. xxx
You all looked wonderful and what a great day you all had , best wishes x
oh so wonderful!! one day i say, one day....
nice time in manchester!
xxxxxxx
What a fun time you had. It's bloody freezing right now isn't it? We nearly got blown away by the sea breeze on tonight's dog walk. I love Manchester. Have fun xx
That chair the giant Players' box is sat on is like one we have at home (only ours isn't so knackered!) I've got that 60s Schoolgirls' Annual too!
I love it when you get together!! SOOO much fun!!! Glad you had a thoroughly lovely time!!! I LOVE the matching skirts- that is hilarious!! Mwa ha ha!!!x
What fun! It is hilarious they had two maxi skirts that were the same. Donated by ...twins?

Fabulous post - you all look amazing! The market looked really good - definitely better quality than what I would expect at a "flea"!! Hope you have a great time with the family in Manchester.,
Sounds like a fabulous day out and that market looks amazing!

You ladies look fabulous. I like the matching maxis. Chesterfield Market looks great. Don't think that there is anything like that here. Love your pressies. Will you make the trouser suit (my guess) or the skirt? Xxxx
I love seeing pics of the three of you. Such gorgeous women! I love the matching loo maxi skirts, and that pendant from Vix is so you! I hope you have a wonderful weekend away. Much love. Xx
You guys have such fun together! I imagine the vendors love seeing you because they know it will be a great day.
Hurrah! You all look bloody gorgeous and I love the matching maxi girls!
It does look like a Seventies fest at the Flea. They must have known you were coming!
Ah, Mary Hopkin a Pontardawe lass and I had that Sarah Moon print...didn't we all?
I'm coming next time.
Have a fab weekend.
Loves ya!
xxxxx
Ahh, perfect! You all look fab, and I've enjoyed having a nose around the stalls, in your gorgeous photographs.
Have a wonderful weekend xx
So fun to shop and hang with friends! All of you look amazing (as usual)!!!!
Wow, what a splendid day - I love those matching maxis. And the necklace Vix gave you is really nice.
One of those brooches looks very much like my giant one. And those annuals... How could anyone resist the Star Trek one?!
The Sunshine Girls, bringing gorgeous smiles and beautiful weather. You remind me of the Trendy Trio in that 70's magazine!
What a great day you've had - and with lots of treasures to choose from. I love the pendant, and of course the twin skirts photo.
Friends certainly do bring the sun with them :-) Looks like you all had a fabulous time. I have that Sarah Moon picture on my bedroom room I love her. Have a lovely weekend to, dee xx
nothing wrong with tiring things on in the bathroom. I usually just try on in the aisles.
That church's spire is crazy.
What an array of different stuff ... I'd go mad with delight there :0)
xx
We always have such a lovely day out. I have only one complaint - not enough time. Can't believe that was 6 hours worth, and after being all luxurious we had the inevitable last minute panic. We have to get another one sorted out soon. We definitely brought the sunshine with us :) It was lovely to meet Joanne, she's a total sweetie. We need to drag her for a boozy lunch next time! So funny that you brought twin maxis for us, that's about as 70s as it gets. My mum used to have us in matching outfits, and her too! Can't wait to see you again my lovely. Xxxxxxx
"Tears of rain fall down my window pain, I'm all alone again, good evening sorrowwwwwww" - I loved Mary Hopkins, and Dana, and Clodagh Rodgers and all that eurovision crap! What a fabulous day out. Thing is in Chez, its hard to tell who is wearing vintage, and who is in their normal clobber! xxxx
Looks life fun was had by all.
Have a nice visit to Manchester. I'll look forward to seeing the photos when you return.
I always think its so lovely seeing you and Vix hanging out together :) I really love those 1950s Easter eggs (Easter is my favourite time of year) they are so cute.
A more lovely/lively trio there could never be!
Felt like I was there!! Just what the doctor ordered. Loved every single picture. Your smiles are contagious and the brisk winds invigorating. Sending much, much love!!!!!
You are so right about good friends bring their sunshine!! Such fun you always have, I would so enjoy being with you all.
What a stellar day! "Pics in the bathroom? Why no, Officer, we're just fine. Thanks for asking. Now were did I put my furry bat bag?" Gossip, laughter, and wearing great clothes always fends off the cold. The twisted spire is an excellent icon for a day of fun.
Well, I must admit I'm gutted about Zayn. He was totally my favourite! And the only one I know.
Looks like you had a wonderful rummage at the fleamarket and you must have brightened the place up no end. Sun or no sun. xxxx
That looks like so much fun! A day with friends and a market-could it get any better. Oh yes, and a boozy lunch. I am so envious of people who have access to such markets though I know I would come home with masses of kitchenware I don't need. I have a bit of a thing for crockery.
You all look so lovely and happy I will bet you brought the sunshine for everyone at the market. xoxo
Rowr, what a HOOTENANY!
A day with you ladies is my idea of heaven. You all look divoon and totally gropeable, and I adore the eclectic array of goods on offer at the markets.
So jealous it HURTS!
Love! XXXXXXXXX
I so enjoy seeing your photos from your girls' day out, especially when you're hanging out with Vix. It's great that you're only a train ride away from each other.
Those little painted eggs are so cute! Hope you had a fun in Manchester.
Woo! You all look amazing! X
I agree. Friends do bring sunshine! The three of you look so happy and you made my morning. Your laughter is contagious and your maxis glorious!
