Good Day Sunshine

I need to laugh, and when the sun is out,
I've got something I can laugh about.

It's been a delightfully sunny week, and a busy one.

Not with anything terribly onerous, I must admit; more a self-imposed regime of coffees, chatting, shopping, reading, faffing, and posing.

It's a hard life.

1950s Linzi circle skirt - flea market
Vest, shirt, belt, bangles, necklace and sunglasses - charity shopped

So what's been making me smile this week?

Don't get too comfortable there, Charlie; that washing basket is now empty.
I've done ALL the ironing.
Yes, really.

Charlie and Pedro from down the road have a love/hate relationship.
I think they are in hate mode here, that's no love bite.

I adore Jess; she largely ignores me.
I allow it, because I love her, though I wouldn't take it from anyone else.

1970s dress - flea market
Cardigan, necklace and bangles - charity shopped
1950s tapestry bag - vintage shop in Birmingham
Belt, sunglasses and sandals - retail (sale)

I haven't had much charity shopping joy lately, although I do love the sunny design on this 1960s Pyrosil dish...

and vintage slips make me happy. I have more than enough, but at 50p each and such lovely colours, it would have been rude not to bring a couple home.

Blog search terms are always good for a laugh.
Current corkers; mistress pants and luna amor big tits.
Naturally, my blog is the place to come for those.

Striped bangle (my new favourite) - a gift from Fiona.

Nina has been in the choir at school this year.

They have learnt to sing Livin' on a Prayer, which is a genius song choice.

I showed her the video on YouTube, and she asked are they girls?

 Loving my garden.

And this, at a local bus stop...

Presumably you don't have to book because Jo will look at her tea leaves and know how many people are coming.

I'm predicting... not that many.

And that, my friends, is the week so far.

How is yours going? Hope you're walking on sunshine too!

xxxx

Yes, a few laughs here Curtise. I did have a titter at Nina's comment, totally understandable, bless her and also at the Tea Leaf reader. You mean you're not going???? Loving the splash of sunshine that you're wearing and cannot believe you scored a slip for 50p...down here it would have been about ten quid. Charlie has a slightly demonic look in his eye, maybe it's the thought of the next scrap with Pedro. Glad the stripy bangle is a fave, it was from me! Beautiful astrantia and beautiful you. xxx

The sunshine is walking on me, not the other way around. It's hot, I'm cranky. Best to hunker down in the cool room, if I can find it.
You look cool and gorgeous. I particularly love that yellow sunbeam of a skirt. And 50p for vintage slips? Starting rate downtown here is $15!
Enjoy your weekend, even though it's not here yet - just want to get your prepared.
The video of the song is hilarious! Nina's comment about being girls cracked me up.

Loving the sun too. And those slips!! So Sexy!!! One of my WI pals (aged 82) gave me a gorgeous long negligee last week that someone had brought back from Macy's in New York for her when she was 20 - I fell like Joanie from "MadMen" in it. Love your daughters comment about Bon Jovi! xxx

Nina's comment hijacked your whole post! LMAO!!! Summertime is in full swing at your house, lazy lounging cats, pretty carefree bright frocks and your garden always I envy. What is that weird ass flower???? I need it in my garden now :)

I confess, it's MOI who uses luna amor big tits to find your blog!!! Caught out!
Loving that colourful skirt, it's so damned cheery and pretty! And that Pyrosil dish!! Swoon!
I bloody love cats, their endless craziness fascinates me.Our Peeps was obsessed with sleeping in the laundry basket for a while...then it was under my sewing table...who knows where next!
Bon Jovi ARE a bunch of girls!!!!
Love you! XXXXXXXXXX

Oh, you always make me smile and giggle, Curtise! Love both outfits of course, but especially the yellow skirt! And, now you have me wanting some pretty slips! Damn you! :)

LOL-I couldn't even get my hair that big in the eighties! Did you explain to her about hair bands?

YOU are sunshine personified in that yellow circle skirt. I love the black and white outfit too. Fresh and summer!

I have serious vintage slip envy! There are only ratty old skanky slips in our thrift shops.

Roses, astrantia and hypericum! Yes, I'm showing off. I miss walking around a garden and rattling off the names of everything much to the boredom of my companion. Thank you for sharing your garden pictures so regularly. I need it and I soak up all the blogger garden photos I can get.
Now carry on with the faffing about. You are no doubt an expert.
xoxoxo

Oh forgot to say that Charlie is adorable in that demonic-cute way that only cats and some children are able. And Jess is a beauty. Her eyes are such a lovely green and she has mastered that regal look.
xxxxx-kisses for the kitties

I love that old Beatles tune (they weren't girls, were they?). And I love that circle skirt, it's my favorite shape. Your cats are wonderful. I allow mine to do nearly anything they want. They own me. When Sandy says "You love King more than you love me," I respond "Just a little."
Gorgeous flowers blooming all around you, my friend. xox

I do love cats, but my allergies don't. Shame though, as cats seem to be the single thing my child isn't allergic to.

Don't you think, Mistress Pants would be a great moniker for a blogger (or an exotic dancer)? You should consider it (the posting name, not exotic dancing).

Now you must show Nina pictures from the height of Glam rock.

That yellow skirt was a major score. I can't decide if yellow is your best colour (or green) but together-pow! Good day sunshine indeed.

Val said...

So many happy colors and pretty cats! And I love that the school choir is singing Bon Jovi - maybe next it'll be Wanted Dead or Alive (I love that song).

Looks like a lovely summer is unfolding there. And thanks for reminding me to check my search terms for a good laugh!

You look amazing--loving the yellow 50s skirt! The choir singing Livin' on a Prayer really is perfect.

Oh Myyyy God, the Icons of American Rock in here??? LOL I think I used to date one of them, he didn't tell me he was famous! Don't ya just love that hair??

I especially love the white dress on you Curtise. You have a perfect figure, no faffing!

Love that bowl too. We had one so much like that at the thrift shop where I work. Now I wish I'd snaffed it up.

Oh, I meant to ask..what happened to Miss Simmonds Says blog? I miss Claire! I tried to go to it but it says invited readers only. ;(

I'm walking on sunshine after viewing your post! The outfits, the vintage slips, the kitties and the flowers. My evening is complete!

Caroline said...

Please, please, please go and see the tea leaf reader. I want to know what she says! You can write your blog in advance then!

Sam once asked me why everyone had ladies hair in the '80s. I told him Lady Di was to blame, but I don't think we can blame her for poodle perms.

You look fantastic as always. I love your circle skirt. That is nice that the schoolchoir is doing Bon Jovi. I personally hold them responsible for the hole in the Ozone Layer. Your cats are amazing. Cats are always so funny, especially when they are trying to remain cool and aloof. Loving the Astrantia, wish I could get it to grow. Hope your vintage dry spell passes quickly. Xxxx

That Linzi skirt and the glorious dish are so sunny and lovely - I feel happy just looking at them.
Love the bastard massive flower in your hair and your nails look fabulous in cobalt blue.
Is that a Rose of Sharon? Thy used to grow in my parents' garden when I was little.
Charlie looks a bit demonic in the washing basket, like one of Louis Wain's cats.
Love that the choir are singing Livin' on a Prayer. Nina's right, they do look like girls. Those heady days of the 1980s before the invention of hair serum!!
Go on, get your leaves read!
Love you! xxxxxxx

I insist you go and enjoy the sunshine for me to as we are being bombed with wind and rain at the moment, so go have some sunshine for me please. Love both your outfits, and your cats are so beautiful. Likewise what is going on in your garden, you know how much I love my garden so I am so enjoying the colour in yours while mine is asleep. Did you tell your daughter yes girls with hairy chest!! Glad to see you are faffing, faffing has been under rated for years and we need to faff a whole lot more, in fact I am going to faff off right now!!

Ha, how funny, I'm reading Graham Greene's Travels With My Aunt, and I just read a chapter with a tealeaf reading scene in it over breakfast this morning.

And last night I dreamed that Miss Simmonds started blogging again, which I'd forgotten when I woke up, but the comment above from Joni reminded me. Weird.

What a feast for the senses! I've only ever came across one vintage slip that I considered, those are gorgeous. I love your collage, the florals, floral bags, and striped bangle with your sandals.

Marvellous choice for a choir. :) Could it be one little step closer to giant hair coming back into vogue?

Glad to see you looking so well and surrounded by joy and good humour. I think your leaves would read "You are loved!" xoxo

This is a lovely sunny post, I love your summer outfits and all the flowers.

You musty go to the tea-leaf reading, I've never come across one.

Ha! Bon Jovi do look like girls :o

Enjoy the rest of your week xx

"Gypsy ass" and "leotard fight" - those are my favourites on my searches today. Sounds like a Russ Meyer movie! I love all this amazing yellow and oh deary me (or rather fuck me dry!) that bloody AMAZING back in your gorgeous Pic Monkey collage has turned me into a leaky fucking minge-box. I'm dying!! You're bloody gorgeous in the sunshine, the rain, the snow ... fab post love! Ooooh and Anto's heading for the steel city very soon - he'd love to say g'day to you and your lot while he's there? Don't go tidying up the house, he's used to living in the pit of hell. Hugs darlink! xoxooxoxo

Faffing! What a brilliant but underused word. I love a good faff, me.
Gorgeous kitty pics. I can see why you adore Jess. What a beauty.
Love the white dress outfit. You look very demure. Those funny folk seeking kinkiness on your blog must be very confused when they see you.
Ninas comment about Bon Jovi made me smile. We had a similar reaction from Connie asking for a CD in the car with long haired men on the cover saying, ''because I like girl singers.''
I guess there aren't too many long haired metal boys around nowadays. xxxx

I think you really need to get your leaves read and report back :) Loving the vintage slips, your garden, the circle skirt and the Pyrosil dish, the cats not so much, am a doggy person as I'm madly allergic to cat hair.

Beth Waltz said...

So many treasures! Those vintage slips are exquisite, one can smell those glorious roses -- and what is that psychedelic flower you've hatched in your garden?!

Isn't that a shorter bob for your summer look? It's very pretty with your lighter dresses.

And thank you for the snigger about the "girls"!

cat in a basket. All that hairspray, thank you , Bon Jovi! Ritchie Sambora looks like he's wearing a bathrobe!

Hi Curtise,

Funny comment from Nina, are they girls! so funny
My week is good so far, weather wise It's so so, rain, sun, heat, but i'm not complaining - I'm enjoying my summer, life is hard as well on the other side as well!
Loving your yellow skirt! Totally enjoying my garden too, I'm spending lots of time there rain or shine!

Tks for your comment Curtise, a big hug to you

Oh - your kitty helps with the laundry like mine does!
I love the colorful vintage slips.
Jon Bon Jovi looks so much better now with some age and short hair - yummy!
Stay cool in the sunshine!

Connie said...

Oh that was my favorite song in middle school. It was my anthem. I was a pre-teen flibberty gibbet. Not much has changed except my age. Anyhow, you do this song proud!!! Gloriously beautiful sunny dresses. You look like a summer garden personified. I'm thinking of getting a cat for my little dog, Pancake. He's getting bratty and I think a cool cat would put him in his place. I kind of miss the days when guys looked like girls. Nina's comment is priceless.

Sheila said...

Our weather always seems to match! I love the kitty pictures, and all the little bits of your garden. You, of course, look smashing! I love that yellow skirt.

Ah what a smashing blog post Curtise, great pictures and one word for you in those outfits GORGEOUS !!!!.

Forest City Fashionista said...

All sorts of good things to inspire a grin here, especially Nina's observation that Bon Jovi does look rather feminine ;) If you want to freak her out, show her photos of Poison and Twisted Sister. I'd like to know what Mistress Pants are - I might want a pair. Any blog post is better with the addition of Cats.

your garden is looking magnificent and you're also blooming madly in your pretty floral skirt and your white dress, so gorgeous!!
No sunshine in my neck of the woods, just some stormy weather, which I like anyway!
Glad you enjoy your kitties activities and cuteness!

Bon Jovi hair was rather magnificent wasn't it? my diffuser and perm never ever got to those dizzying heights, so jealous! x x x

Sunny, lovely yellow skirt - and sunny lovely post, Curtise! Your Jess is such a beauty. Your garden seem to be blossoming madly - what gorgeous photos of flowers!! I am surprised by the choice of the song, but isn't it great? I bet it sounds very cool when kids sing it!

I adore your bright blue nails, and your bangles, and the tapestry bag! Happy Summer! May your life be as hard as it is! :)))

Love both these outfits - the bright yellow skirt is especially awesome!

Feck me..you look glorious and sunny. Love the skirt and the vintage slips. What is it about vintage slips? Rather taken with the bowl too.
Jo Johnson? Never heard of 'em! Luna Amor Big Tits is a brilliant stage name. If you were reading tea leaves as Luna, we'd definitely have to book. Three deep around the block they'd be.
Have a lovely weekend.

Ha ha! that is too funny about the Bon Jovi comment.

Go and get your tea leaves read! I went once and was stunned, stunned at how accurate the woman was.

The prices at your thrift stores are so much better than here. We only get a kick in the ass for .50. LOL

You really do look like a ray of sunshine in that lovely circle skirt! Love your cat pics too, Charlie looks like a right character! OH is still mistaken for a girl occasionally, even with the addition of a beard and the fact he is over 6 feet tall!
