A total portrait with no omissions

I am going to have to whisper this very quietly.

Is this outfit too young for me?

It's a good job Vix is away, she'd really be telling me off, wouldn't she? And I do like the look, actually - well, I wore it out'n'about, so I can't have thought I looked too bad.

And it reminded me of a New Wave/Blondie sort of vibe, so I've been singing along loudly with Parallel Lines while typing this. So many memories! I was 14 in 1978 when it came out, and I thought Deborah Harry was one of the most beautiful women ever. Still do, actually. Oh for those lips and cheekbones...

While an abiding love for Debbie Harry is clearly nothing to be ashamed of, thinking I can dress as a homage to her in her prime may be something of a stretch. I'm 47...

Is dressing one's age another rule just waiting to be broken? And how should a 47 year old dress anyway?  I'm 48 in June - should I dress differently then?!

Oh well, it's too late now.  And it's no good hiding behind the sunnies - they all know it's you!

I've had this little skater skirt for a while but rarely wear it as I think the flared short style isn't good on me. I think it's better with the long waistcoat to streamline the hippage a bit.

Gap skater skirt, stripey top, velvet waistcoat, tights, hoop earrings, 80s Jane Shilton bag (charity shop), over-the-knee boots (Javari, 2010 sale), silver cuff (Brick Lane market), white sunglasses (Her Royal Hotness Queen Helga

I have learnt something today. If you want to add deep worry lines to your already lined face and look really cross in the process, take photos looking into the low winter English sunshine. That does the trick. Not such a sunny Sunday Girl!

Of course Sunday Girl was the obvious choice as post title and video, but I had to go with Picture This, my favourite track off the album. Apart from 11.59. And Fade Away and Radiate. And Heart of Glass.

Heart of Glass reminds e of a boyfriend I had when I was 14. Thanks for taking me back. I never thought I would smile about it after all these years.

This is my absolute most favorite so far but then I too have the strong love for Miss Harry. I vividly remember seeing her for the first time on ToTPs. I read a great interview of her just recently somewhere or other, she didn't disappoint.

I don't why you think your the wrong age for it, you look fabulous.

Should I mail my laundry pile to you and then combined with your laundry pile we could officially call it a weapon of mass destruction.

Oh and I meant to say how fabulous are those bathing costumes in the previous post!!!

I don't think the outfit looks "too young," Curtise--I thought you looked great in it!

Ohhh I'm telling Vix, your busted! The funny thing about you even asking this is I think this might be your hottest outfit post. You totally own this look! The skirt is adorable and your figure is banging regardless of age. Wear what you feel good in, that's all that matters.

Curtise, this is another LP that I had and recognised your post title as Picture This straight away. You look fab in this outfit and the red tights are 'epic' (as my 12yr old niece would say) Don't be worrying about dressing your age, Debbie still looks hot and she's 60 odd.

It's not too young at all! Demure yet cheeky, not slutty, it's great.

I knew I recognised that post title!!!
Now,let ME tell you off in no uncertain terms!
SPANKY!
there you go!
And no,this look is NOT too young!
Yeah, the big question! I'm leaning towards the looking loonier as I get older.Feck it.I have no idea how I "SHOULD" dress, but if I go by the peeps I see out on the street,or at work,it's pretty badly, and I'm afraid that just won't do.Feck THAT!
You frigging hottie,I reckon you need to continue as is.
Debbie still looks fabulosu, and she's in her 60's now,I think! Actually, the old rock chicks do still dress fab, there's our inspiration!
G often tries to get me looking into the sun!NO,I say!
Meow!
Love and faux (FAUX) fur!

I'm dogging you to Vix, how dare you say you're too old for an outfit like this?!
Naughty, naughty girl!!!

Hell no! You are NOT too old for this outfit. I think you look totally awesome - I really love the new wave vibe and the tights are just perfect:)

Debbie Harry would be most proud of the bit of red flashing in this outfit. May your June birthday find you dressing even more colorfully.

Oh sweet you look so fabulous!!!! I love the outfit, super cute.
I quite often, when I see photos of my outfits say oh know I think I might be to old for it. Then I see women my age and think hell know, they all look the same, eeeekkkkk.
You always look so very very amazing.
Love and happiness to you V

You're asking someone who wears overalls, pigtails, giant pink buttons and PRINCESS LEIA hairdos if I think that outfit is too young?!

I don't believe in 'age-appropriate' dressing!

It's SPECTACULAR! You look smokin' hot in it but most importantly... how do you feel in it? Because if you feel even HALF as good as you look in it then you should wear it all the time!

Are you feeling hot hot hot?

Love! Sarah xxx

I love the peek of red in your tights! It's a well put together outfit no age limits what so ever. We have opposite problems, I feel like I dress 50 years to old for my age ha ha ha. xx

I think you look great in this outfit! age is just a number i think a lot is base on your person and attitude in terms of how you wear the clothes, and you look great!

I would have to say NO (The outfit is not too young for you.) I thought you looked darn good even when I had only seen the little thumbnail pic of you on my recommended blog roll. *hehehe*
The coat along with it is absolutely marvelous also! And I love all the red accents.

P.S. On Friday I bought another Faux fur coat *EEEPPP* Upon wearing it I found out it has the same problem yours did with that inner side vinyl peeling. What material was under your vinyl fabric?? Mine looks like some sort of fuzzy / cottony stuff or something. I don't know if I should scrape it... or just let it shed through time! *Hrmmmm*

Well young lady, Vix may be away sunning her glorious bod in India but you have ME to deal with!!!!!!! TOO YOUNG??????? Wot??????? Look at you!!! I'm having a seizure over this look - you have a gorgeous figure and those LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG legs - the stripes and boots are forever timeless. **dancing around the kitchen in nightie at 11am to Hanging on the Telephone"** - I'm a fecking disgrace to all womanhood of any age and so should you - yeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!! xoxoxoxoxo

In answer to your whispered question: No! It's very flattering, and I do agree with wearing short flared skirts with something fitted on top to tone down the "flare". I've got two years on you, and I would definitely wear this. If you had a tank top, bare legs and spike heels, my answer may have been different :)
